Same here. It seems like Ryu just doesn’t have the range like some characters do. His only decent range poke check is his cr. mk but it’s so susceptible to drive impact making it not ideal to spam. Standing HP is good but I feel like it’s so slow. Frustrating but still fun to play though.

I'm guessing he was looking at opponent's health bar, as it had a clear flicker for a split second which probably triggered Punk's hit confirm reaction before it instantly snapped back to no damage. Otherwise I don't see how it's possible and the hit animation was really brief.
