@@ayeitsjay4283 Kimberly Dianne Shattuck died of complications of ALS, a horrible crippling disease I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy if I had enemies. She was 56. She passed only 2 weeks before you commented so unless you had been a longtime loyal fan like myself, it wouldn't have been on your radar. So, I wouldn't beat yourself up too much over it. But go buy all the Muffs records starting with Blonder and Blonder. You won't be disappointed, trust me. I met Kim after a Muffs show in Milwaukee over 20 years ago. The crowd was not very nice to her that night but she was very gracious and actually took time to ask me about myself and my own band who played on a different stage in the same venue that night. She told me she wished she could play guitar half as well as I could. I told her I wished I could write songs a quarter as good as hers were. I won't forget her smile that followed my compliment as long as I live. She was such a lovely person, inside and out. I'm still all fucked up that she's gone. Her husband must be beyond devastated. He said when announcing her death that she was the love of his life and I truly believe that, considering how kind she was to me all those years ago, a punk teenage guitar playing nobody with a jealous and visibly pregnant GF giving her the stinkeye. Kim was a treasure that most didn't appreciate because her talent and band didn't get the exposure they deserved. Not fair but what ever is?

Ira van den Heuvel im not a long time fan of the muffs, the first time i heard of em was on spotify like a couple of years ago. but it was shocking to me when i found out kim died, i didnt even know she was sick. i followed her on ig and she was actively posting before her death so i was really shocked

That "I'm going to smash your face in" vibe between Kim and Crass. Would love to see the alternate world where Muffs V1 stays together and folks purchase I Don't Like You instead of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I loved The Muffs since the 90s. I used to see them live all over L.A. Kim Shattuck wrote very timeless songs.

They were a little harsh on Mel & Kim’s previous band The Pandoras’ metal phase: Rock Hard was a solid mini album & the songs were good & still distinctively Pandora’s, but because it was fashioned on more Hair/Glam Metal in vogue at the time, that those two clearly weren’t into. And maybe by 1993 felt a bit embarrassed about, because it was seen as passé in the wake of Grunge & Alternative Rock/Pop Punk wave that came along and took over.
