Great video, Bob. For reggae and dub I also like Burning Spear and Augustus Pablo.

Reggae music (The Real Rock) is fairly underrated in the VC here on youtube. These great recommendations are welcome ! Great job, Bob ! My very first reggae LP was Steel Pulse "Handsworth Revolution", bought in London in 1979 ! I still enjoy it now i am 63 years old ! I have seen the Clash in concert in Bern Switzerland in February 1984 😋😋😋! ( all those UK vintage vinyl pressings, Island and so on... , especially with STERLING , JONZ (John Dent, The Sound Clinic), Porky Prime (George Peckham).... are still the best sounding option ! And maybe we should mention Max Romeo & The Upsetters " War ina Babylon" with the track Chase The Devil !!! Cheers from switzerland, luca

howdy Bob, around the beginning of Summer I became OBSESSED with Marley and the Wailers. Specifically, catch a fire. It was a few more weeks that I found Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer's debut projects....highly suggest, STRUGGLE. It's a vibe!

Amazing choices. Love the love for Rancid... I will check out that album by Steel Pulse. The Scientist had some very fun artwork.

That box you were looking at would have cost me a bunch of money. I use to have a lot of reggae albums, including most of what you showed as it was pretty inexpensive years ago. Now, deals can still be found but not easy

The Photek LP the guy plays at the start is a banger, 90s drum n bass classic. Really hard to find original dub records, Scientist rids the world of the evil curse of the vampires been on my list for a while now.

The Clash's "bankrobber"/"robber dub" was produced by Mikey Dread, who also collaborated on a few tracks on Sandinista. His records from the early 80s (Dread at the Controls, World War III) are killer. My personal fave, though, is original Skatalite and keyboard king, Jackie Mittoo. There was a significant Jamaican diaspora in Toronto in the 70s, and Jackie was a significant part of that (check out the Light in the Attic compilation, Jamaica to Toronto}

Fantastic recommendations, Bob! I am sadly not super familiar with The Scientist so definitely need to check him out. One of my favorite modern-era dub albums is Spacemonkeys VS Gorillas - Laika Come Home. That album is tremendous. Thank you so much for the video and the recommendations! Cheers!

Try Aquarius Dub by Herman Chin Loy, it is possibly the very first dub album. U-Roy Natty Rebel is also another good LP. Jacob Miller/Inner Circle also produced some great Rockers reggae/Dub versions in the 1970's like Tenement Yard and Tired Fe Lick Weed. Looks is Deceiving is also a great song by The Gladiators. Mad Professor Captures Pato Banton is a great reggae/MC dub record from the UK scene in the 1980's. Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers Tomorrow People is a good LP as well, and quite close to home for a Bob fan. :)

Hi Bob - Red by Black Uhuru was one of my favorite albums of a very good year 1981. Love Sly & Robbie. My vinyl copy of The Clash is a ..10" pressing. I don't get notifications of shorts so I rarely see them. Congratulations on all the views , I'll check it out.

I’ve seen Steel Pulse in the early 90’s excellent band, but I will recommend Toots & the Maytals, Toots is like the Otis Redding of Jamaica and he sang to my date when I took her to his concert at the El Mocambo in Toronto, love dub reggae it’s a great work out for your sound system, grab some King Tubby if you come across him, he schooled Scientist, lately I’ve been into collecting reggae 12 inch singles from the 70’s with a studio track on one side and a dub version on the flip they are a lot of fun, especially the Joe Gibbs 12’s Cheers from Canada 🍁

On the subject of Reggae dub music, check out some of Bill Laswell's ambient dub music with the likes of Jah Wobble, et al. My first Clash album was the 10 inch version of "Black Market Clash", back in 1980. Possibly my favorite Clash album, along with "London Calling".
