PUNSAND BAY AND WW II AIRCRAFT DISASTERS

During WW II any threat to Australia it was believed, would come from the north, therefore, the top of our country was heavily fortified. Air traffic was intense, no more so than at the main point of focus, the airstrip. With so much activity concentrated in the same airspace things were bound to go wrong , and they did. Today we can still see the evidence of some of those aircraft that did not quite make it.
