British comedians Punt & Dennis explain how to play "Spot the Stiff". Whereby you can work out who will end up being killed by the end of the film in old british war movies.

Nearly 20 years on and I still play this when watching films today. My favourite line to use is 'I think we know...'

Quality! Particularly enjoyed the last one: the language scholar from Oxford, and Punt and Dennis (both Cambridge men) immediately chimed in: "Dead!"

lol, I love Punt and Dennis. I saw them live a few days ago on their tour and I was crying with laughter. They used a few lines from their old stuff, especially "Let me come with you. I can see. I can see perfectly..." but most of it was new. It's a definate must see. :D

Whenever I play "Spot the stiff" while watching Casualty, I do the hand gesture at 2:05. Dead Dog. Dog Dead.

I remember seeing this on TV years ago. All the clips at the end were interspersed throughout the rest of the show which worked better.

I saw them in Manchester. They were ace. :D We even got the Tongue Twister Minister, Tony Shannon and Neil Pye, Jimmy Saville, Milky Milky and loads of the other TV stuff. Ah, memories.

20 years ago is about right, however this was on BBC1. When they were in The Mary Whitehouse Experience, they were shown on BBC2.

@DeadlyV1RU5 This was out in 1991/2 - my last year at college - we all gathered round the TV to watch it.

Is it just me or does Punt look like Eric Idle´s younger brother? :)

My favorite example is the John Wayne movie, Red River. Harry Cary Jr.'s character starts talking about using the money he'll make from the cattle drive to buy a farm and get his wife a pair of fancy red shoes she always wanted. He's trampled in a stampede within five minutes. You just want scream, "DON'T SAY IT!!" to these guys.

Another good one, from Fort Apache another Wayne movie, is with Captain Collingwood. He's been trying to get an appointment to teach at West Point. Just as the regiment leaves to face the Apache, his transfer comes in to his wife. The other women insist she send someone to tell him. Not wanting him to be considered a coward, she decides to hold the letter until he returns. Of course he doesn't. It's practically murder.

Seen them aswell, the 'We, are an island nation!' and 'Microsoft terminate' sketches are funnier, but this is still awesome.

I knew it was one channel was a good show though, went up there with smith and Jones etc
@mooseven14 жыл бұрын
That's a bit harsh. Punt just plays the straight man and sets up the jokes - it's his job to be normal and unassuming while Hugh pulls the funny faces and does the impressions etc.

Hugh looks creepily young in this video. I'm used to seeing him in his 40's like on Mock the Week. Anyone know how long ago was this filmed?

I think this was from Punt and Dennis (not Mary Whitehouse Experience), which make it 1994-1995.

Mary whitehouse experience was so much better when on the radio ... the tv show was very watered down by comparison.
