We moved to Germany quite recently from South Africa. We thought we had EVERY piece of paper we could possibly hope to have...in abridged, unabridged, apostilled, certified, and a few also translated. It took us two and a half years to get all our paperwork done in SA (not strange to wait years for a birth certificate for instance). My husband nagged Home Affairs to the tune of 14 million emails (he automated some of that). They still managed to come up with two documents that we didn't have translated, and wasn't asked for on the checklist, that we now need translations for. 😂 It sounds super stressful what you experienced...I'd definitely get nervous if someone told me the police and or army were coming for me! Safe travels to Australia. We're bummed to see you go, we've been following your channel for quite some time as part of our prep work to move here, and I drove past Hildesheim just yesterday.

I can’t say Germany has a difficult process, as the process to apply for Marianns PR visa in Australia from Germany was also rather document and evidence heavy! 😅 but as you mentioned, the document you needed was never stated and when you are required to get something, you need it now! But if you want something, enjoy the 2 month wait 😅🙃

We will first be flying into one of the unrestricted states first, then following all necessary restrictions until we can arrive in my Hometown of Brisbane in QLD.. I can’t say what we are doing or where 🤭 that’s a surprise for viewers 😅🤙🏼😁

@@PuntingForThePeople well at the moment QLD is not open for anyone else but by the time you actually here it hopefully is. But since you must have family here it should be easier. Fingers crossed.🤞 It's hot and humid here with lot's of storm around at the moment. Will be nice and green when you arrive. All the best to you. Brissy is a lovely place to be during this pandamic. All the best again. Which airlines are actually flying from Germany to Oz right now?

The biggest problem with German bureaucracy is that authorities are not networked. It is enough to move from one city to the other and all the paperwork has to be reorganized, all applications have to be re-submitted. And that is not only with immigration authorities, it works in every authority including the police. 😬
@PuntingForThePeople3 жыл бұрын
When I asked if our enquiries were recorded in any way, I expect a very thorough German “Ja” but.. to my surprise, the Government I charge of overseas friends is a lot more laid back than I have come to learn of the lovely German population with file and document keeping 😅😅😅

@@PuntingForThePeople To keep all your documents (in order!) is bloody important in Germany! It's a part of survival. ;) Even more: all authority answers should be officially on paper, cause oral / spoken answers do not count. It was a scary a process and to begin with, even with all our explaining it seemed like there was no way around it, but I think they saw how well organised we were and that we weren’t “cheating” the system and soon after became far more accomodating to assist 😵💫

I don't want to talk about my negative experiences with Australian authorities, but after years of enjoying life in Germany, you shouldn't end up saying goodbye with a negative video. I have a feeling you are disappointed that things did not go as planned.
@PuntingForThePeople3 жыл бұрын
This isn’t a goodbye video 😅 I’m still here and will be making more videos the coming weeks 🙂 Sometimes bad things happen and when you make videos about your life for the public and want to be authentic, you share the bad with the good 🤷🏻♂️ As for the “didn’t go as planned” comment… what exactly did everyone think MY plan was? I’ve been here nearly 5-6 years and almost 3 years full-time, had a nice job which I could of stayed in and gained my long term residency with, I had one if not my most successful years playing football, the only thing that suffered was my KZbin videos due to other important factors in my life taking time away… 🙄 Next year I could of stayed in Hildesheim, worked, played for numerous teams, moved to any city in Germany due to being in home office (my employer already offered that when I resigned as they didn’t know I was going all the way back to Australia)….. We (Mariann and I) chose to end a comfortable situation in Germany to move to Australia with a bunch of unknowns and questions for one reason, my large support network of family, job opportunities for the both of us and quality of life for us.. football won’t last forever and I was NEVER staying in Germany forever, this was the right time to make the switch as we didn’t feel comfortable moving somewhere else or re-committing to Germany for another year with football…. So yeah, not sure why people think that Germany “didn’t work out”. If anything it worked out better than planned, I nearly didn’t come back in 2018 or 2019 due to no football offers, so the fact I thrived until nearly 2022 I see as a success.. 🤷🏻♂️

And now imagine you are not aware that you have been given the boot and need to leave Germany. At around 5.45 in the morning at least 6 police agents are surrounding the house so you can't escape. You are given about 15 minutes to gather some stuff and good bye Germany. That was it...

Congratulations on being allowed to stay in Germany for the time being. The information is too late now. Simple rule for non-EU citizens: No work - no residence. It's simply unbelievable that the staff in Hildesheim are telling you something different. Always get everything from the German authorities in writing.
