Hi, thanks for this session on the aggressive puppy. I had a similar situation when I was a 16 year old teenager with my 8 month old male German shepherd. At this point, he was well socialized, I was hand feeding him, I could trim nails and clean his teeth, no issue, obedience and recall was excellent . He was about 75-80 lbs and tracking to hit 100lbs as an adult. Anyway, I went down to get something that was beside his food bowl and he absolutely went ballistic, tried to bite me, aggressively ( I mean really aggressive) barked and growled. Scared the living heck out of me and I jumped out of his kennel. Anyway, I quickly gave my head a shake, jumped in and literally beat the living tar out of him - (note I did not physically injure him but, there was a fair bit of yelping to be sure) . He was young enough that he quickly submitted and never, ever did this again. My concern here was if I didn't make it crystal clear this was inappropriate behaviour, I'd have real trouble on my hands when he was older (and 100lbs) as I was leaving him intact given his size Note I was a broke 16 year old and vet bills were to be avoided. And you are correct, the internet may not be ready for some of the things we have to do to curb aggressive behaviour. Note that this happened in the 1970s well before all the great resources currently available on the internet - like your channel, and dog training books were few and far between. The only book I found was the Koehler method of dog training which I believed was punishment based. Thanks again for all your great content. Respects...... FD

Our 9 week old Drahthaar is doing the same thing. She’s so tough she intimidates our 90 lb German Shepherd. I feel like a pin cushion. Still emensley easier than teaching our donkeys to pick up their feet. This advise is working with time. Looking forward to signing up for your on line instruction.

This is what I have been waiting for! THANK YOU! I would agree that the internet would likely explode showing that session aaaaaand this is why I couldn't find any information on what we're going through. Also, I went to the patreon awhile ago and one thing I was detoured by was the public aspect of the patreon supporters videos. Is there a way to not have them public? And thank you so much for this video. So. Much.

For protection try gauntlets and gloves with cuffs!! I also bite the dominant puppies on the bridge of the nose while restraining their ability to bite me...followed with lots of verbal and physical love strokes. Take the time it takes and it will take less time in the end.

I wish you had a video about this. My puppy wants to play bite me as if I’m a puppy too but my skin can’t take it. I need her to stop trying to play with me using teeth. I give her things to chew on instead, but so far ….

Serious question. There has been a string of robberies in my neighborhood this week and I get my puppy Saturday. I don't want the puppy to sleep in my room because I believe that they need to learn being alone is a part of life and I don't want to create a dog with separation anxiety. On the other hand I do not want the dog on the first floor where he can be seen by the robbers. I have a big family and every room has someone in it so I can't just put him in a different room unless it's on the first floor where he can be seen. Also the basement isn't really an option. Dad sleeps in one room down there and my brother stays up till 4 am in the other. What should I do!

I would keep puppy in your room regardless of robberies at least until sleeping through the night. Keeping a puppy in your room won’t necessarily cause separation anxiety as long as you crate throughout the day. Also, safety first. With that in mind it sounds like keeping puppy in your room would be the best option until sleeping through the night and the robberies have stopped.

I had to wait 6 or so minutes before you told what the pup actually did and the former was painful to go through. A lot of waffle. You lost me.
