Fantastic video ! Easy to understand explanations of what you are doing and more importantly , why you are teaching them each exercise. I've been running a dog in agility for a couple years and have just started a new dog and I still got some very useful tips here. Well done !

What a great Check List & Demonstrations of exercises to do with one's dog -- adult or pup! Thank you for taking the time to make such a clear video. Especially loved the set-up for the pup to fit into smaller & smaller boxes. I now use a lower box instead of a stool for the Perch Work -- keeps the dog's weight more on the front. Want to share that my working cocker -- called a field-bred English Cocker in the US -- is referred to as "a cocker with that long tail" even tho' it is docked 1/3.

Best tutorial video for beginners like me. Very important foundation for agility trials.

Very helpful! I'd been looking into agility training classes for my 6 month old pointer/brittany spaniel mix and everyone told me to wait until he was atleast 1 year old...with this video, I can begin to teach him the necessary basics/foundation. Thanks for uploading!

Excellent video with good information. Thank you! However, wished you had narrated the actions instead of adding the music.

I wished I could have heard sounds instead of the music too (on top of which fact it was music I don't even like!).

What sort of treats are you using here? Most of the treats I've tried my puppy stops to chew on, or can only have a few of per day. Tips on good training treats would be great. Thanks for the great video.

Patricia Shaw Hi, thanks for commenting. We're mostly using very small pieces of soft food such as cheese or hot dog sausages that can be quickly chewed and swallowed so as not to delay the training whilst waiting for them to chew it down! On days where they did lots of training, we just cut the size of their meals down to avoid weight gain. Thanks.

I concur with the poster that said ditch the music (very distracting) and put in your own narrative. While I like the textual explanation, I feel that I am missing something.

I wish I had started when my girl was that young, and I wish I knew some of those foundations before we started. I'll know them for my next pup.

With the hand touch/target command, what other things can this behavior be applied to later on? What word is best to give for a command?
@KayJay6569 жыл бұрын
Leighanne Lacy Hi, it can be used to move the dog into a position, or transferred to an object such as a lid for contacts or other behaviours, such as some of our conditioning tricks. I didn't put a cue to it as the presentation of the hand was its own cue; when I transferred to a lid I used "touch".

This is something new I have been trying to work towards with my 11 wk old pup. Did you clicker train Whirli and Dazzle? I can't tell from the clip you included. I am working on this at a training class that focuses on clicker training. How old were they at the point you filmed these clips? I'm just very interested in agility and curious.

For someone new, the read is not very clear. Wish it was narrated and explaining what to do, expectation and troubleshoot what could happen. Looks like she knows what she’s doing but also looks like dog is experienced.
