That's a beautiful thing. I guess ehe was ready for a new dog. Many times we need time to mourn. And she didn't get to pick the pup. Clearly she was okay with the GR and was happy. Good sister to have. Cared enough to buy her a puppy. Great when you have family like this. A sister with a kind heart. 2 THUMBS UP for the sis who bought the puppy.

Absolutely right. When I lost my Woody after 12 years after a battle with cancer I was devastated and didn't consider looking for another dog for 6 months. After 8 months I did get another dog, but even that was probably too soon and for a period I felt guilty because initially I just didn't feel the same way about him as I did about Woody, but he soon won me over as they all do. Everyone will have their own mourning and waiting period, which is why I don't think it's a good idea for someone to buy a dog for someone else to replace a recently departed beloved pet, despite the obvious best of intentions.

I agree, we lost our Thor, our first furbaby dog nearly 6 years ago and we still cry talking about him. They are family, my son has called them his brothers for the last 16 years because he's our only human child. They are our best friends, always loving, ready to play, cuddle, or listen, you can tell them anything and they won't tell anyone. They are therapists to our souls. Love to all of you & your furry family members! 💞

You did the best thing u could do for your sister. I’ve lost my dog two months ago after only one year with him. I insisted about six year to convince my parents to get a dog and now i m devastated. I’d like if they did the same thing to my, because i don’t think i will be able to ask them to bring another puppy home. I will NEVER understand why people who are giving a new pet to someone else feel the need/ or the right to name someone else's pet! It is THEIR DOG, they should be the one to give it the name of their choosing. Imagine going to the hospital to have a baby and the doctor who delivers the baby hands the baby to the mother and tells her, "Here is your new Daughter, her name is Sarah".

@Futz OK I will try and explain it so that even you can understand (it is a very simple concept) Giving a person a puppy as a gift is a good thing (if you know they would really love to have a puppy and would be a good owner) But imagine if a person gave you a puppy as a gift and then they tell you, the dog's name is "buttface" would you say, OK I guess my new dog's name is "Buttface" OR would you want to name your own dog? If it is YOUR Dog, YOU should be the one who names it, not someone else.
