Rich people had these dogs to watch over their children and protect them. They can get along with other pets and children. It depends on how they are raised. Years ago, while I was living in Florida, I walked by a yard sale and stopped to take a look. There were dogs walking around greeting people, but I noticed there was a pitbull leashed to a tree just sitting, ears down and looking sullen. I said, "A pitbull!" and walked over to it. He stood up and wagged his tail as I walked over and as soon as I got to him, he flopped onto his back and was all about the tummy scratches. He was really a sweet dog. When I asked the owner why the dog was leashed up I was told that when he was up and around, people were afraid to come to the sale and only started stopping to look when the dog was moved away and leashed. Poor doggie.

@h.l.b.6122 Not sure where you are, but here in the States, when a dog bite is reported by the media, the only time the breed is mentioned is when it's a pit bull of some kind. That is definitely prejudicial. Pit breeds, as in any dog have their own personalities that vary from dog to dog. Generally, pits that attack people have been mistreated, improperly trained, or improperly socialized. All three are human errors.

Postman here. You would be surprised just how many dogs greet me that way. I know almost every one of them by name, I always have treats for them and unlimited pats and butt scratches. I also have that one dog, where I don't deliver post anymore, but I walk by on my way home, and even though she didn't see me for a year or so, she recognised me almost imidiatelly, grabbed my hand in her teeth and then walked me to her home :P I have many owners, that I am the only stranger their dogs like, because normally they are shy or skittish, but they are happy about me. This is the only thing I will miss about this job when I finally dump it. Edit: I seem to have befriended some crows as well. I give them some treats, and they call each other and land near me and follow me around. Though they don't let me touch them or come too close. One even scratches my bike with his talons to get to treats.

We shared our lives with a Dachshund for many, many years. She was & will always be Family. We used to say/still say; Technically she doesn't belong to us --- We belong to her. They are a gift. In the building I live in we’re allowed to have dogs but not many people do. So when I moved in with my dog Red, he immediately became the “building dog”. He’d wander around the halls, go up and down the elevator, just nudging people’s doors to see if they’d open so he could come in and greet people. One day I thought he’d actually gotten lost, but turns out he’d wandered into a neighbor’s apartment, was sitting on the couch with the neighbor, watching TV. Everybody loved him. And he really helped me be less shy and get to know my neighbors. When he passed three years ago, nearly everyone in the building wished me condolences. Some of them even came to say goodbye just before he passed. It’s amazing how dogs can bring total strangers together. Fly high my sweet boy.

That's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and Pit Bulls have a very deserved bad name. *All dogs* are amazing, friendly, loyal animals. Only a select few were selectively bred to mutilate other dogs in illegal pit fights. The Staffy was one of them, but fortunately due to mid-1800s laws in Great Britain, breeding for aggressive pitfighting traits was outlawed and the breeders had a century and a half to focus on temperament and game show qualities instead. I don't blame Pit Bulls for their existence. It's our fault that we created monsters. But we did, in fact, create monsters, and we can humanely phase them out by preventing additional breeding and focus on the other several hundred dog species that are just as amazing and friendly and loyal without the occasional side-effects of going apeshit and mauling a passerby's legs.

I started tearing up because I had a pitbull that looked like her, except she had a white stripe running from the bottom of her jaw all along her stomach. She passed away years ago but it still stings. This video put a smile on my face, Tubs is so adorable and friendly, I love it :)

@@ElusiveTy Yep, Pitties are not safe dogs. Had one jump a fence and kill my neighbours staffy a few years ago. They are just bred for violence. Even though they can be loving pets to their own family, to everyone else and their pets, they are unpredictable and dangerous if they are not trained properly. Unfortunately MOST people don't train their dogs properly.

@@80sShred not right, all dogs can be agresive if not treated correctly just like humans, I have a pittie that's never been trained "properly" as you say, we just take good care of her... shes very social, and loves pats, and I tell you that she would never be aggressive to anyone just by the sike of it, and never been so far even with encounters on some agressive dogs... dont talk smack without propper knowledge (also in know this is a staffie, but they are very similar staffies are just more social but that's not the point)

No, this has been scientifically proven to be false. The breed has a defect which causes the brain to swell. This occurs randomly and without warning. Once this happens a Pitbull will no longer be the kind dog it once was assuming it was kind to begin with. Like many other things being pro or con Pitbull is treated as a delusional thought faction. Both sides spread lies to support their side. I have met a few of the breed myself. One had been abused by its first owner and was adopted by my cousin. Which my grandmother decided to take into her home and it bonded with my uncle as it's master who lived in the house. That dog was not safe to have around children. It seemed relatively fine when its owner was there in the house. The creature did not mind my grandmother. It was highly aggressive any time my uncle was not in the house towards anyone other than my grandmother. It could have harmed someone in that house and people LIKE YOU made excuses that the animal was not dangerous! The creature just outright stutter stepping towards me when it had been wagging its tale and licking me just weeks earlier.
