Oh my gosh, your Mom singing to the Fur Baby melted my ❤️❤❤. Your daughter’s reaction was priceless ❤❤❤. I lost my cockapoo after 16.5 years in 2022. I’m still grieving. I’m so happy for your family. A dog is truly man’s best friend and they are truly family. Cherish every moment and don’t forget to capture a lot of video. Congratulations on your new baby. I’m a doggy daycare owner. Retractable leashes are not recommended for safety and training reasons. They break and snap back. Also, you want to train your pup to stay a certain distance from you on walks. Potty training : Only use puppy pads until she is able to go outdoors. There is no such thing as an “ indoor dog” they need outside time and adequate walks/ stimulation. Food: stick with the same food. If you want to switch her food, increase the new and decrease the old on a 7 day schedule. If not, their tummy will get upset. Teething : Toys that you can freeze are awesome Crating : Crate train her for sure. Many benefits for safety especially.

So excited for y’all! I have an 8 month old maltipoo and training him was tough but rewarding 🥰 Helpful tip I learned: don’t keep the pee pads near her food because it’ll discourage eating. Dogs generally don’t like to eat where they potty. It’ll also prevent her from eating her own poop (gross I know but it happens especially with pups!)

I cried a good happy cry watching Dior play with her toys where u went to pick her up. Your kicked right into mommy mode how you were loving on her from jump. When your mom started signing to Dior and Dior Lil eyes were closing like she was falling asleep while your mom was singing that totally melted my heart. Amirah reaction had me crying again. beautiful surprise Maya! you are such a great mom & Ameerah is going to be a wonderful dog mom! I’m sure you’re getting all kinds of suggestions, but as someone who’s a first time dog owner herself & adopted a cavapoo about 3 months ago.. I’d say def crate train, it’s interesting that the breeder suggested not to? the playpen is great to put the pup in during the day when you can’t have your eyes on her at all times (cooking, cleaning etc), the crate is not only used to help with potty training, but also serves as a calming place to prevent overstimulation & from the puppy getting in to things. as she becomes more comfortable, she will try to get into & chew up EVERYTHING & she will start peeing EVERYWHERE. also be sure to buy an enzymatic floor cleaner (Natures Miracle) to break down the urine and prevent the dog smelling their pee & wanting to pee in that same place. My cavapoo loves his crate, I have a wire one that’s really spacious & used a divider until he got bigger. WELCOME TO LIFE WITH A DOG, it’s amazing 🙂🥰

Lawd Amirah got me all teary eyed! Sheesh! She was so happy! The puppy is beautiful! I’ll share a suggestion if I may, while she is in training, keep a collar and short leash (a training line) on her even in the house. It will give y’all more control when she gets into things, especially since she’s so little. Also, getting in the habit of taking her outside every 60-90 minutes will help alleviate accidents. She’ll get used to going outside. She really is precious baby! ❤
