I've always had labs. They are great dogs for families. I'm glad to see you have a crate. If you train your pup to think of the crate as his/her house, they will enjoy it and consider their own little home. Not only that, they'll rarely go to the bathroom in a crate. Good job!

Congratulations on getting your new puppy!!! My baby girl Bailey, who is a Golden Retriever/English Bulldog mix, will turn 2 years old this December, and getting her was the best decision I ever made. Yay for Chip! Not sure if UK has insurance for pets but if they do please purchase! I ran an Animal ER for 17 years and quickly learned owners were more open to helping the pet and take care of them properly when they purchased insurance. Best of luck, From San Antonio, Texas

So happy for you! :) I would suggest draping a blanket over top of (at least) half of the kennel to keep the light out and create a "den". That's what gives the sense of safety to them. :) Should we take bets how many videos from now he'll be sleeping on your bed? LOL

You might have an issue potty training with a crate that large in the beginning. I was told at the pet stores I've visited that you should buy one just large enough for them to turn around in and lay out. Any larger thank that and they make the back part a potty area and the rest their bed.

Demy Nierop People have a right to voice their opinions, if it makes one other person think twice about buying and adopt instead then it's a positive thing. I'm personally quite disappointed Sophie and Dave chose to shop and not adopt.

Angela Beckett I understand but I see some people saying "I loved Sophie and Dave until this." And really rude comments. I got 3 cats and all are shopped. One of them was a gift from a family friend and all come from a good home. Besides maybe they will adopt once in their lifetime? Just because they shopped their first pet people need to calm down a little even if they are dissapointed.

I don't know if in Scotland they microchip but I HIGHLY recommend. If he gets out you can't track him but Simone can scan him (size of a grain of rice, doesn't hurt them) and he can come back to you. Also, puppy insurance is amazing and register his micro chip number and keep the address and such up to date. Anything to help protect your little baby!

Kristin McGary it's a legal requirement as of April to have dogs micro chipped in Scotland so Chip will probably be "chipped" at his first or second vet visit 😀

arr how sweet you don't need the fancy wee stop stray to get ride of smell when he dose a poo / wee on the carpet you just need white vinegar and bicarbonate soda just rub the vinegar in the area then put the bicarb on leave for 20 mins then hover this works and will stop them going back to same spot to wee as we have cats

KasumiSan1989 I am fully aware that they are not toys, our last puppy was adopted from a shelter but my families needs are quick specific for what type of dog we need at the moment. After 2-3 years of checking shelters no dogs were suitable hence why we are now getting a puppy. We had our last dog in our family for 15 years and we look forward to welcoming our new family member.

Dogs only love them when you condition them to, my dogs have never used a cage and they never want to be in one. I would also advise you to use the word cage, because that's what it is, they're often overused and abused by people who think the dogs love them and that they're only crates. They are cages and really shouldn't be used.
