As an owner you have the final say so its just an advice. Putting an animal down isn't something that must taken lightly. A good vet will not give that advice until everything else isn't a option. But it's always up to yourself to make that choice. A vet can only advice.

@@Wendy88NL Sadly i see too many vets suggest putting a dog down as a easy solation and they never recommended trying any at home remedies even if they can sometimes work.. they rather kill it then loose money.. I was told to put my 12 year old leonberger down when he developed a infection in his legs from sores.. i refused took him home and put him on oregano pills (super strong antibiotics) he got one everyday and he got better and ended up living till he was 14 and died naturally in his favorite bed.

Dachshund spinal issues are unfortunately a fairly common and serious issue. My girl had issues at age 6, and we found that using ramps around the house for her to use helps so much. instead of jumping up on chairs and up steps really hurts them over time she can walk up the ramp without that added spinal pressure. She’s now 12 and hasn’t had any issues since we switched to ramps.

I know of several other animals who have come back from the brink of extinction with only a couple breeding pairs left. This population size actually isn't bad - especially if they exchange individuals from other places that have them (they mentioned the program has 30% of the world's captive devils, so there are 20 or so elsewhere, I suppose). Animals can handle inbreeding a lot better than humans can, generally - there's evidence of us having gone through a genetic bottleneck in the past, so we're not as genetically diverse as most other species

Frankies nails need to be trimmed, they’re way too long and I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it’s making her. Because they’re so long it pushes the paws up and out which changes the way the bones are shaped and giving she already has spinal issues getting her nails trimmed and maintained is a must.

Yep, I noticed that too. Way too long. They should have been trimmed while she was under. Cats that have been declawed suffer the same way. They walk on the heels of their front paws, and that messes up their backs as well as the remaining bones in their feet. I would never do that to a cat. (Jan Griffiths).

Other vets: Come back next week and we’ll need to keep them in for 24hrs, it’ll take three of us and require general anaesthetic Chris: OK, I need a blanket and some warm water…

I've had a half a dozen or so surgeries and so I guess I don't view an operation as then end of the world. So if a vet recommended surgery for my pet I'd say "sure, if it will make them feel better, let's do it."

Of course. You want what's best for them. My 14 year old cat just had ear surgery. She had polyps in her ear. She's deaf in that ear, but she's no longer in pain, and isn't scratching it to hell like she was. Her other ear is fine, and she hears normally in that ear. Being deaf in one dosen't bother her. I would SO much like to have uncensored videos. Being generally interested it's a bit frustrating just seeing blurred pictures =) I love to watch the programs, though!

I believe they have to blur certain things in operations to follow youtube's guidelines and not have the videos taken down, so there's not much that can change for that aspect

I love Bindi vet and rescue too. I wish rescue would come back on TV again. It's so good to see kind people taking care of animals. Just because you have your degree doesn't mean you should be a vet. It takes a certain person to be so kind. Thanks Bondi for everything you do

My son had a similar issue- he had an open duct from his nose to his eyes. (Which has since closed). One time he laughed and got milk through his nose. Some milk came out of his eyes, too! We all had a good laugh over it!

I am happy that some vets do actually see that farm animals are moe than produce. They see that they are members of the family. Vets where i am would put down a chicken for having a cyst.

Call me callous, but that sheep should have been put down and turned into chops instead of being forced to suffer through the additional pain of trying to heal and the continual issues.
