Sarah Lee on Bass ... she's killing it here and was a stout replacement.
@stevec17702 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Still partial to Dave Allen, personally, but he probably fit that original raw sound more than the somewhat smoother / poppier sound they adopted. I say "somewhat" because "pop" and "GoF" don't really go together well.

She's pretty damn good. I love the original dude, but she kills it too. If you haven't heard Robert Fripp and the league of gentlemen, she plays on that album and it's badass.

@@fuckamericanidiot I’m well aware of the time line. I was there seeing both live from the beginning. TH early albums were pretty soft - I didn’t mean those. It’s just as likely they were both influenced by similar bands. My favorite TH album is Naked. My favorite GO4 albums are the early ones Entertainment etc. Very different styles of course. I’m not even sure what I was thinking when I posted that comment.

I remember having a debate about the quality of the performane here. I saw Gang of Four about three months after this show that is recorded here. I loved it. Then again I was stoned out of my head. Regardless I think it was a great show.

Interesting to hear 4 songs that would later end up on Hard played by the full band. Sacking Burnham and replacing him with a drum machine and replacing Sara Lee on four track was not an good idea. Sadly King and Gill could be a real pair of ego strokers.
@puppyguitar6 ай бұрын
Is it confirmed that Hugo was kicked out? I guess I assumed he'd left of his own accord. I actually like the drum machine on Hard and think it fits the synthetic vibe of the album well, but the live drums definitely give the songs some extra kick here.
