When I first heard this song, and the drums kicked in, I was like WTF is that... Totally blew my mind. Those drum parts aren’t by any means typical. Special thanks to Wade Wright for suggesting this gem!!!

I heard a story that he did some sessions with Scritti Politti for the Cupid and Psyche album, but they were never used. Couple of songs on that where there are manic guitar breaks... done by Paul Jackson Jr.

Even though Entertainment was an amazing album, I always like Solid Gold better and this was my favorite song on it. Sadly whenever they came to the US it was never close to my city. Rip Andy

I saw them in SO36 in Berlin in may 1981. What we all want was the first song after the break. Burnham walked through the audience, jumped on the stage, and started hitting the tom toms. Unforgettable.

Imagine these cats opening for Iggy Pop , what a mindfck, Hollywood Palladium 1981
@MrKgb637 жыл бұрын
Weird. I saw them open up for Iggy the year before (1980) at the Santa Monica Civic and yes, that was a mindfck. Also, Iggy threw his beer on my hippy friend I dragged to the show. So funny. Strangely, I went to the Iggy palladium show you mention but missed the opening band. I don't think GOF played though as I was a giant fan and would have not missed them. Memory plays strange tricks.

Check Out "Blind Illusion" It was Mike Minor, Les Claypool, Larry Lalonde, and Mark Biederman at one point in the early 80's. I thought they kicked ass! Sausage "Riddles are Abound Tonight" was always my favorite Primus side project, even though it was the original lineup Of Les, Tod Huth and Jay Lane. They released it in 1994. IT was the only album other than a demo they released in 1988.

I was one of those guys who always thought that a great guitar ride was the best thing one could do with guitar until I heard Andy Gill. Now those guitar rides bore me. The problem is that I havn't seen anyone who does this as well as Andy Gill.
@MrHoefnix5 жыл бұрын
I'm really amazed by Andy Gill's original style that lacks solos or any traditional method. That doesn't mean I don't like guitarists like Ritchie Blackmore or Brian May. They all have specific qualities of their own.
