I've never played percussion, but I've read and memorized music in my life. I just don't get how you guys get from band camp to marching the season knowing all this music. You're great.

I know I’m late but for I joined mid football season in 2018 and had to play by ear cause my old director only allowed advanced class students in band so I didn’t know how to or march or play tbh but I ended catching up and learning and yes it was a long process but it was kinda easy so I guess all I can say is practice

This isn't for every school, but Purdue has a lot of their music in public audition packets. Now the halftime shows are a different story cuz each one is unique and they only get a few practices to get it down. These guys always impress

Morning Star our second drumline, Boiler Beats, used the old Pearl drums last year due to not having enough of the new drums to use. This year, the Beats use the black Pearls and the AAMB uses System Blue.
