I dissagree with the fact that Jimmy "Got us to the SB". He played well enough for us not to lose much during those years, he had some solid years with above average play. My niners were CARRIED by ELITE defense in those years. If you pay attention and arent one of those ignorant casual football fans, you can see clear as day that Brock is light years ahead of what Jimmy was doing in our offense. Its because of his talent, decision making, accuracy, and playmaking.

It's Shanahan because right now he is viewed like Reid was for years. Excellent OC. Very good HC. Can elevate every QB he coaches but can't win the big game. A win means not only can he win the big game but he will have beaten the best coach and the best QB in the league to get it. It also means that they don't necessarily have to give Brock the biggest QB contract when negotiations start after next season. Shanahan really can look around the league at free agents or the draft to get a more affordable QB instead of tying up $50 million + to one player.

True. I hate pointing it out because it feels like hating but in the two postseasons he got rings he was in three total snaps and didn’t have a single carry. He also didn’t play in either SB. I’d give him some props for the Chiefs one because he did contribute during the regular season even if he wasn’t part of the playoffs. But with the Bucs that was a gift ring. He had less than 30 touches for the season.

Agreed. Our defense is overrated this year and is a major cause for concern. I only think media pundits overrate our defense to put down Purdy’s performance and downplay what he has done. Any person who has been watching all the niners games knows the defense has major weaknesses and that it is nowhere what it used to be especially the last month when it matters most. Thankfully our offense has exploded under Purdy and they can put up points quickly to make up for it. Even then our offensive line is bottom tier which is another cause for concern against that Kansas City defense. Purdy is facing a high level of difficulty in his first full starting year. So far he has over-performed well beyond expectations but he needs to do it one more time against the best the NFL has to offer in the juggernaut Cheifs.

For the record I think there is a chance Purdy takes a "team friendly" deal where he realises his "limitations" and the set up he is in, still gets paid a ton of money but helps keep the monsters together and the train rolling. I get the feeling he is a realistic guy and enjoying the environment he is in and would probably settle for something like that than roll the dice to get the biggest pay day. It’s not worth talking about whether Purdy will get paid top money yet. He cannot get an extension until after NEXT season. So we will still see one more year of whatever production he has before that decision is made

He's on year-2 of his rookie deal (which I think was 4 years with a 5th year option). He can't even talk about renegotiating until the end of next year according to the CBA. So yeah, there's at least one more year before there's even a discussion. You'd think they would know this or be prep'd about it before the segment.

After his 3rd year they would talk a contract with Purdy. But the reason they started to talk about paying Purdy was because Shady was implying that Purdy would be trash if they pay him and Niners wouldn’t be able to pay the weapons around him. Like his QB( hurts) was this year bcuz he got paid and chocked bcuz they couldn’t keep defensive players this year.

I don’t see purdy trying to be the highest paid qb even after winning, he knows in his heart how he can win more than one ring. He is a man of faith and I feel like he will have the Brady mindset to still get paid but allow others to get paid so they can stay together.

Shady saying that everyone is still asking the question “is Purdy just a system QB”, no one is asking that question, but TV analyst like him and it’s usually due to bias. No one questions Mahomes or any other elite QB because of their draft pick number (all First Round). They question Purdy because he wasn’t suppose to make it this far and all their data confirmed that he shouldn’t be where he is today. So what do they do? They have to justify his existence and the reason why he’s beat all their favorite players…it’s Shanahan’s playbook, it’s Deebo, it’s CMC, it’s Kittle, etc. Had Purdy lost to GB or DET, all these same analysts would rejoice in the fact that they were right all along and Purdy just had a lucky 2nd season, but eventually all luck runs out…HOWEVER, Purdy has beat all the odds, proven to taken the reigns and run the offense. Those runs were not in Shanahan’s playbook! Kyle said it himself Purdy takes risks outside of the playbook depending on what he sees in the field! So that’s all Purdy! Did you see that hug, smile and pat on the helmet that Shanahan gave Purdy after beating the Lions? Kyle knows he has someone special!
