The cops who charged him with felony escape are idiots. No DA would prosecute that after watching the video. The kid didn't open the door, he didn't kick out the window, and he didn't ask for anyone to help him. It's natural human instinct to escape imprisonment, and it was the cop's fault for allowing him to escape, and the other kid's fault for opening the door. Running through an open door is not illegal. As for why the first charge was dropped, I'm guessing he was a first time offender and after having been jailed after arrest the judge probably figured any prison sentence would just amount to time already served.

Because it was a disorderly start to finish and no one should have been in cuffs in the first place, you heard the cop at 11 20 ish what are they gonna do arrest everyone, it would never stand that they arrested those specific people. Escape charge is bs if its false imprisonment to begin with, just because theyre acting like kids and antagonizing cops gave them 0 right to do that there, the only one that would have ever stood in a million years is the dude who opened the door, and the fact you can watch this video and see that these kids deserve to have their life ruined ESPECIALLY with that prick cop who had the audacity to blame the mother at the end makes me sick. @PA_Transparency Жыл бұрын
@@christopherkarr1872 sounds like we're merely trying everything possible to place all the responsibilities on the drunk teenagers fighting on the beach during spring break while overlooking the fact that trained police officers ignored policies and procedures specifically designed to protect both the public and the person in their custody. What if that teen ran out and jumped into the ocean thinking he could swim with his hands cuffed? Who would be at fault in the civil suit??? The dead teenager? The teenager who opened the door? Or the grown adult who was trained and certified to perform his duties as dictated by the rules set forth in their policies and procedures???
@christopherkarr1872 Жыл бұрын
@@PA_Transparency Valid critique. In your hypothetical situation, it would most certainly be the fault of the individual who incorrectly assumed they could swim with cuffs on. The moment they left police custody, they assumed liability for their own actions. I do, however, see the point that procedure should have been upheld and, beyond that, both fighting parties should have been arrested and held (separately) in the drunk tank, if necessary, Disorderly conduct citations ought have been levied, rather than assault-related charges. And, finally, the cops ought have received personality tests and aptitude tests to ensure they were intelligent and stable enough to be cops. For literally what? Some random guy fist fighting? Who gives a shit. Maybe they should have just left like they do at the bars, the hood, the homes, the streets, the train cars, etc. Some college dweebs with no broken bones doesn't need a ton of men with guns to show up and make everything worse.

I work as a bouncer in a bar/billiards hall , every weekend we have close to 200 people all in a space small enough to be a bodega. When fights happen it’s pure chaos, these cops handled all interactions the best they could and I’m embarrassed for these young adults acting the way they were
