My parents have memorized the potholes from our house to their workplace. They don’t even need to look at the road to know when to swerve. Until, y’know, a new one pops up right where they need to swerve. Luckily our roads have been repaved near us, but it’s a temporary fix. They just cover the entire road in another layer of asphalt. The curb gets smaller and smaller lol.

I drove from FL to MI last year and I kid you not, when google maps said "welcome to Michigan", the potholes started.

Potholes are very common during the Michigan winter months because of the temp changes, road salt, and plow trucks. If you think it's bad here in Michigan take a road trip to Indiana. Last winter I had a pothole there cause close to $1500 worth of damage to my front end. Also, if you see a duck hanging in a pothole that means it's deep. Avoid at all costs.
@kevinrold19496 жыл бұрын
Michigan is not the only state with "temp changes", blame the MI government for this one. That's the real reason.
@GreggRoberts6 жыл бұрын
Um...read my post again, but s-l-o-w-l-y!
@Handidude6 жыл бұрын
I don't give a crap about Indiana. They can deal with their own roads. Michiganders deal with Michigan roads. Yes, blame it on Government. State, County, and Local. They are all at fault.

But isn’t every season pothole season in Michigan
@Sitruk866 жыл бұрын
in the winter the ice fills them quite nicely actually. sure its black ice, so you go slipping and slidin into oncoming traffing. but its the smoothest death drift you'll ever have.
@beeisonline66546 жыл бұрын
Sitruk86 yep that’s what happens where I live in Michigan XD

Winter is the only season we Michiganders can relax from the potholes, like Sitruk86 said. Also, you never know who is a drunk driver or who is just trying to dodge the potholes. And the state flower is a construction cone.

I live in Michigan my whole life, and I’m 15 years old, and I can tell from being in other states like Arizona and Ohio, that Michigan’s roads are shit, especially in Eastern LP Michigan. Welcome to Pure Michigan, the land of purely terrible roads.
@vanillapop216 жыл бұрын
The roads are just as bad in Ohio. I spent my whole life in Michigan until I moved to Ohio last fall for work. I was looking forward to the stories about better roads and friendly Ohio drivers that I had always heard about. Well, that was all complete bullshit. I never had a flat tire before, and I've had two in the 7 months that I've lived in Ohio. I nearly broke several tires from the monster potholes in Cleveland and almost been ran off the road by ruthless Ohio drivers. I want to go home to Michigan!
@Ichibuns6 жыл бұрын
The roads in Michigan are fine. Detroit is a different story. I will drive a few hours out of my way, to get around that poop stain.
@cjdoesthingsMISC6 жыл бұрын
Gregory Kanniard that’s your opinion. A lot of roads are bad in Michigan, especially in the Eastern lower peninsula.
@Ichibuns6 жыл бұрын
@@cjdoesthingsMISC Obviously its my opinion. I spent most of my time in the thumb. Roads were great. Highways around Detroit are in a league of their own. The biggest pile of shite I've ever witnessed.

To resolve this issue. I asked the city where I reside to use sand instead of brine or salt. They use sand on the east coast to prevent potholes and corrosion. They said no because of the sewers. No different out there. They wait until the ice melts and use sweepers with water to clear the areas very slow. This keeps the sewers clear out there. If this method was done in Michigan. It's never been tried. Why not? Peace!
@peterf46205 жыл бұрын
Eluwenie Stargazer That’s not a bad idea. All the throwing asphalt on the potholes don’t work.

I'm 65 years old and a life long resident of Michigan. I've owned dozens of vehicles and drove hundreds of thousands of miles on Michigan roads. I have never once had to change a tire because of pot hole damage. Is it just me, or perhaps the pot holes aren't the problem.
@omgitsfrosty48883 жыл бұрын
Yeah its probably those freight trucks that are way over their weight limits or the absurd amount of salt damage that goes on during winter. I've only been driving for 13 years and have had to replace multiple tires.

The present Governor built her whole campaign on "fix the damn roads!" She has done very little to accomplish that. I have even witnessed the repaving of decent roads because they were next on this list (not sure what list) while other roads connected to this road were pure crap! I pay little attention to what politicians say. Only what they do or don't do. When I make my voting decision I ask myself is my situation and my state in better shape now than it was before the last election. In this case, I say no, it is not. Next!

I did a cross country, drove across, and even lived in 11 states so far. Michigan has the worst roads. They fixed them 5 times in 8 years. Why did you have to keep on fixing them?
