So the difference between Positive and Negative Thunder is one is a Boom or Thud and the other is a Crash and Crackle?
@maxpower58772 жыл бұрын
Not really, the difference is that the positive strike comes from the top of the cloud where its positively charged and can reach over 20km or even more distance to the ground, thats why there is a bigger boom... The negative strike comes from the bottom of the cloud where its negative charged and there for the boom is quieter... Positive strikes can rech up to 300.000 ampere or even more where a negative strike reaches 20.000 to 50.000 ampere

There also tend to be visual differences between the two -- In this case where it is mostly the flash you see, positive ground flashes are usually singular and brighter, although they tend to be paired with multiple other flashes, probably in the cloud. Negative flashes often repeat their flash multiple times. If the lightning arc is seen, positive ground flashes tend to be smooth-channeled while negative ground flashes tend to be jagged, and its leader branching tends to be more visible.
All were negative strikes because they were flashing more than 1 time Sorry If i am wrong
@maxpower58773 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right there was multiple flashes. What i could see in realtime was that those bolts triggered cloud lightning. Sadly i didnt catch them striking the ground..... I cant say that all of them where cg+ but the thunder was just huge
@semprocarnage3 жыл бұрын
@@maxpower5877 yeah anyways I can feel the vibe in you while picturing them haha
@scheldon22442 жыл бұрын
Some are actually positive. These strikes do flash once, but they are often accompanied by multi-stroke intracloud strikes due to the charge imbalance given to the storm by the strike itself.

No, go back @ 0:18, because that was only one flash, accompanied with the infamous blast that positive cgs make.

Its located in upper Austria, storms get nasty here but there are far better locations... north italy is tornado alley of europe. They have many tornadoes in 1 year
