This is key for me.....turning like this means I strike it my best. Excellent advice.

I’m a chronic non-turner on the downswing. I’ve found I have to turn my right shoulder thru the downswing to complete my swing and properly open up. This lesson is perfect for me. Thanks

Your comment at 3:28 "more with irons, a little less with driver" clarified something for me. I've been having some success starting my downswing with bumping my left hip toward the target just before starting to turn my hips, but that wasn't working quite as well with the driver. Now I think I understand why ... thank you Eric!

The trail side forward and turn is one of the critical moves to hit the ball solid for me. My last game, keeping this tip in mind, resulted in about 80% solid hits. Thanks Eric!

I love this tip Eric. Been doing this drill at the range last few times and it's really helping me to clear my hips in the downswing. Thankyou

Great video Eric! My thoughts are almost always on the left hip, so it’s nice to see a different perspective. I’ve recently been working on better compression, because I seem to hit it slightly thinner than I’d like...mainly just no divot at all, but still enough height and spin to stop the ball. Of course the opposite of thin is fat, so now those are coming into play, and I think that making sure I move forward, like in this video, will help. Thanks for the tips.

I just came back from a round of golf and my new driver has helped me hit thirty yards further. Surprisingly my old ping putter that I had lengthened one inch with a wider grip was very accurate. But my irons were poor. I believe I was taking the wedge or eight irons too far back , making me feel more for the new driver. So I was not rotating my right hip properly. I was needing subconsciously to stay behind the ball. Thanks, I planned to take a three quarter swing but I think I would have still had problems.

Great instruction as always! To exaggerate this movement should I feel like my lower body is way past "center" at impact?

Thanks! Not at impact but at the finish yes

Another great video Eric. So I know you mention right side “feels” I know I keep my trail side too far back for too long.. so when you are on the course do you feel it’s your left side pulling you forward or your right side pushing you forward. Also do you have any videos or drills to help start downswing with lower body. I know I start with upper and just can’t figure out a trigger for legs first. Thanks for your feedback and videos.

Hey Matt! Thanks! "So I know you mention right side “feels” I know I keep my trail side too far back for too long.. so when you are on the course do you feel it’s your left side pulling you forward or your right side pushing you forward. " -Neither left side pulling more right side pushing is correct nor incorrect. Of course there will be some of both. See which FEELS produce the best motions (confirm with video) and I would use those feels on course.

As a “feel”, should we focus on trailing hip for backswing and more importantly starting the downswing rather than weight on feet and transfer to forward foot.
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dennis! when it comes to FEEL I don't think there are many universal truths because we all feel different things and are coming from different places. Focusing on trail hip can be beneficial for backswing and downswing. We would need to dive into some more specifics I think here for me to really help

Eric, I "fixed" my backswing; not yanking the club back inside. But now I still have the residual of that where my upper body hangs back. Any thoughts?
@bennylindamood11253 жыл бұрын
Iv tried to stop doing it. But now my body wants to sway for some reason. Wish this game was easier lol
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
You always fix an issue by doing the opposite and exaggerating. Whats the opposite of hanging back? Do that. How much? Video yourself and do enough where you are no longer hanging back. Left shoulder and head more down and forward to start downswing

In my opinion, this the one of the BIGGEST problems that many of my fellow senior golfers struggle with. Including....ME! LOL !! I feel like most of us have good fundamentals = grip/stance and alignments and decent backswings, BUT BUT, downswings and turning ALL the way THROUGH the ball and getting to the LEFT side is just so difficult. But, WHY?? It seems like it would be EASY to turn all the way left. Why is it so easy to decelerate and hang back on the R side? This also results in chicken wings and MASSIVE loss of distance and accuracy. THANKS for the video clip!!
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, Chip! Lots of reason why that can be hard. Some of them due to physical reasons...others due to mechanics. I see people who are 80 years old struggle with this but also 15...so its not all flexibility and mobility. Open club face, steep shaft big reasons why....the hang back serves as a way to help shallow the shaft and square the face

This helps a lot! Thank you. But how can I keep from swaying too much forward? My pelvis wants to move forward before my hips turn.
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Watch this one first kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIbOXn6CncSeaJI I dont know that I would take away the sway as much as add the turn but if you do in fact have too much sway in downswing here are some drills/feels kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX7YY4uofbCnd6s kzbin.info/www/bejne/homqkIeibMh9bKc kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoHWdWufa5l_pNE
