It is not normal. The power steering whining is probably from having air bubbles. I just need to flush it out and ut should be fine.

This thing is sick! Is there any way to improve fuel economy on it? Like maybe change to a different gear ratio? The fact you can do 80 on the highway and then go over any obstacle is crazy. I want one lol.

8 to 9 mpg average!! Dude, re gear for the 40s! 4.88 is not tall enough! I don't know if you can get taller gears than 5.29s, but find them if you can. Lower rpm does not equal better fuel economy. You are revving WAY to low for the tires you are running. Engine is lugging to much.
