OMG! I woke up today debating whether I should cook pancit or not for Thanksgiving tomorrow😂😂😂. You have answered it. My kind of pancit has to have a different combo of noodles: Bihon, Shanghai, Canton and Vermicelli. My understanding is that Palabok uses the Bihon, and may contain ground pork in the sauce and the sauce mixed in already whereas the Malabon uses the thicker, chewier rice noodles and the sauce on top. The toppings vary from region to region but Malabon has loads of different kinds of seafood. Both are topped with boiled eggs and crushed chicharon. Now I am famished😂😂😂 Edit: Glad your son and grandson are both fine❤❤❤

@sadohrs8431, Yeah Sadohr, I was a little disappoited that this Malabon didn't have any chicharron . this only had two small shrimps and to the hard boiled eggs. Still good but felt like the Chicharron would have taken it to another level. Yup, my kid made it out with zero damage. Everywhere surrounding him is flooded and massive damage everywhere

@@PureDetour oh, you are up for a treat. They are really good pancit, though originally from the province of Tuguegarao, there are restos around the metro that offers it. What we have tried so far are from Jocabs, somewhere in JP Rizal in Makati :)

The smokey taste from the pancit palabok is from the smoke fish called Tinapa, which also goes well with a fried garlic rice often prepared for breakfast in particular. And yeah, palabok is one of the pancit variant that I crave for right now, it is really good. Oh, and by the way did you know that almost any other rice cakes, cakes, and pastries can be paired with just about any pancit variant. Cheers Geof and bon appetit. 😋😜🇵🇭

I'm sure almost any cake or pastry could be paired with pancit. I just never thought about it.😂. I have had pandesal with pancit before, but it never crossed my mind that you could pair anything besides pandesal or puto with it.😂 What a great idea.

For some other Filipino food suggestions, try Pando's (Fernando's) Carinderia in Banawe, QC. Kambingan ni Tsong, Sauyo, QC and Morning Sun, Project 4, QC. I'm sure you will enjoy their food.

Oh man, just wait til you get to the regional pancit dishes. Luglug in Pampanga, Pancit Lucban in Quezon province, Pancit Batil Patong in Tuguegarao city in far northern Luzon, Pancit Alanganin in my area in Bulacan which is the only pancit in the whole country that has milk and soured with bilimbi... and that's not even including the soupy noodle dishes!

Yeah I grew up in Florida around a lot of Mexicans and Cubans. Puto was not something to shout out in the park in Florida. Especially if you put Tu Madre es in front of it

I've tried Amber's Pancit Malabon before. It's good, but I still prefer the 'Pancit ng taga Malabon' brand. That's also what I grew up on as they've been around for decades now. Yes, it's very similar to Palabok, the main difference being the kind of noodles used. And Malabon has more toppings (quantity-wise) I believe. Plus I don't think Palabok has Pechay.

I think the big thing with Amber's is the quality is good and the price is even better. Definitely think I need to do some more pancit videos because believe it or not, that is the first one where only focused on pancit.

@@PureDetour Yes, try that. My other favorite is Pansit Bihon. Btw, I know you're not into sweets like M, but try also Ginataang Bilo-bilo and our many Kakanin's aside from Puto like Kutsinta, Bibingkang Malagkit (my fave), Cassava Cake, Palitaw, different kinds of Suman, and many more. :)

@@PureDetour Ah yes, I think i've watched you try Don Benito's Cassava Cake in your early vlogs here. But personally, there are better Cassava Cakes than DB's. Yes, hope you can try the Kakanins which are our native snacks from the olden days. And the Ginataang Bilo-bilo which is also my fave. (I believe it's Binignit in the Visayas but they don't have the Bilo-bilos which are glutinous rice balls.) Btw, hope your son and grandkid are okay. So sad about all the devastation Helene and Milton have wreaked. 😥
