Sweet car..was on my list and ended up with a 993 c4s instead. Performance is not even close, but wanted an air cooled vintage car. In my opinion the R8 is a steal with the v10. Lambo without reliability issues.

R8 still fills my heart and my dreams though. Hydraulic steering, gated manual, rear drive bias, mid engined, timeless looks (original r8s not the transformer mobiles now)

Peter Wood Not the best, but for sure one of the most satisfying ones👌 Usually I would say shorter throw would be better, but I feel that this is actually quite perfect for this car. I love the M2, good job! I’ve also got a review on that, have you seen it? And I think the R8 is actually a better “daily” than most people would think. I know someone who bought the R8 V8 new and still has it after driving it for more than 230.000 km.

Ohms Damn...very good and tough question. The Porsche is more hardcore and raw, which I really like. The Audi has more power and I love the V10 (beautiful sound aswell) so much. Even though the Porsche wouldn’t be bad for long trips, I would prefer the Audi for long trips. For track and mountain roads driving the Porsche. It’s sharper, more agile. I think if I would choose the Porsche, I would want to trade it in for the Audi after maybe a year or so. But if I would go for the Audi, same thing. I’d want to trade it for the Porsche after a while..😅 I hope that answers it. Ciao.

AUTOsist Cool, thanks! This was a 2009. I’ve also driven the standard one, without any tuning and the joy is just as great. So in those terms not much of a difference. But talking laptimes, for sure the tuned one would be a bit faster. I think something around 1,5 - 2 sec. faster on a 2min lap.

It's. Manual, it has the wingbacks(stock seats look out of place in this car) i love it, just a shame that it is the ugliest color there is...😅it's just my opinion. And also in a car like this you need the v10 power, the v8's are relatively slow for a super car.👍

This engine has its origins in two concept cars made by Lamborghini, the 1988 P140 and the 1995 Calà. Both were equipped with engines having a 3.9-litre displacement. In the early 2000s, Lamborghini resumed the project and the engine was redesigned by increasing its displacement. The crankcase and cylinder block are built at the Audi Hungaria Zrt. factory in Győr, Hungary,[1] whilst final assembly is carried out at Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy.[2] The engine has a 90° vee angle and, unusually for a production engine, a dry sump lubrication system is utilised to keep the center of gravity of the engine low. There was also some speculation that the engine block of the original 5.0-litre Lamborghini V10 was closely based on the Audi 4.2 FSI V8, which Audi produces for its luxury cars. However, this was denied by Audi AG, in their official documentation for their 5.2 FSI V10 engine, as used in the Audi S6 and Audi S8 - the Lamborghini 5.0 V10 has a cylinder bore spacing of 88 millimetres (3.46 in) between centres, whereas the Audi 5.2 V10 cylinder bore spacing is 90 millimetres (3.54 in), the same as the Audi 4.2 FSI V8.[3] The cylinder heads use the four valves per cylinder layout favoured by the Italian firm, rather than the five valve per cylinder variation formerly favoured by the German members of Volkswagen Group - including Audi and Volkswagen Passenger Cars. It was later confirmed that the new 5.2-litre Lamborghini V10 is mechanically identical to the Audi 5.2 V10 engine,[4] as is evident by Lamborghini's usage of Audi's Fuel Stratified Injection, and 90 mm cylinder spacing.
