Amazed to find this on You Tube. never knew Puressence were on TFI Friday . Liked the band since I first saw them live in 1996 on a MM tour. Saw them 11 times between 1996/2011 and have all their albums either on Vinyl or CD. Hope to see them play in Manchester in June (2024)

Not sure about Evans using the Radiohead trope to describe a 4 piece band. Just because a band or artist is in touch with it's feelings and purpose maybe. Anyhow I think the boys handled it well. Great performance.

i think its the melancholy in alot of their songs, but in particular, James' voice has that Thom Yorke/ Jeff Buckley strong vibrato that everyone was doing post - Britpop like Muse and Starsailor to name a couple

​​@@shoegazer93Geneva was one of the great "lost bands" of the Britpop era, labelmates of Suede and in the same ballpark as Pureessence. Singer was Andrew Montgomery and I think they were from Aberdeen. I love Pallasades and Moonbeam from Pureessence, probably my favourite songs of theirs . Moonbeam is a total knockout of a song, but I don't think it was even released as a single!
