Be careful with this stuff. I tried it because of all the hype. I have alot of wood and used Fluval Stratum so PH sat about 6.0....have snails, so needed to jack it up to neutral, using a small amount of crushed coral....then I tried this stuff, and it crashed my PH down to 6.0 in less than 2 hours...it was sitting at 6.8. When using any new product, experiment first. Purigen was the only thing I did differently...Upon adding activated carbon, the PH began rising again. Dangerous stuff, and irresponsible of Seachem to not have a very distinct warning about this. Im sure theres situations its very good, but definitely NOT FOR USE in ALL situations, such as mine.

So can you use Purigen in a HOB filter? Does the size of the aquarium matter if you do?

Sure can! Purigen works as long as there is water flowing over the media - that means you can put it in any kind of filter as long as there is enough space for the bag.

Seachem Webinars & Education hello 👋, when you say flowing over does that mean that it could be in the corner of a HOB for example? or do you mean that it should always be going through it? As my Nano tank HOB isn’t to powerful yet it’s in a part with lots of circulation. (When I put the bag of Purigen directly before the outflow it significantly reduces outflow and would probably flood out of the HOB corners)

Can I replace protein skimmer with Purigen?

To an extent! Both Purigen and Protein Skimmers will remove organic waste, but a protein skimmer removes a much greater volume of organic waste than the standard dose of Purigen can. Purigen is also going to be better at removing things like tannins than a protein skimmer.

Yo lo uso solo cuando es necesario... Lo pongo en mi acuario de 120 litros por uno dos días cada dos semanas y así mantengo el agua super cristalina siempre.

Amazing, why wouldn't you just do a freaking water change, it literally takes 5 minutes and then 50% of the water will be lighter instantly

Purigen doesn't substitute water changes. Plants will do a better job than purigen will at removing heavy metals and keeing your water clean and free of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. But purigen is good for making your water clear and combating algae and cyanobacteria, and preventing organic waste that causes algae and bad water parameters.
