Hi Nate: This was an extremely helpful lesson. I tried this with the Brahms D Minor Sonata. Very helpful, not only with activating the 3 variables of the bow (speed, weight and sounding point), but also regulating the bow generally to work on good tone production. Thanks much! Marcus

Hello Nathan! Is there any chance you could do a video on trills (and especially advanced trills such as holding one note down, while trilling the other) by chance? That would be awesome! Thanks again for all your great contributions!

Actually I've been thinking of a trill video, so I bet it will happen in the next month or so!

Mr. Cole, I'm a fiddler and I have always gotten a kick out of watching a violinist expression during a melody that they're playing. Sometimes I want to offer them a cigarette after the song is over. Hmm, I never experience those emotional moments. It's probably because Swallowtail Jig, Blackberry Blossom, or Devils Dream aren't really tear jerkers! Just having fun Mr. Cole. I do enjoy your videos. You're a great teacher with a great way of explaining things.

Hi Nathan, having watched a couple of your videos, I was wondering if you're familiar with the Alexander technique?
@natesviolin8 жыл бұрын
I've had a couple of specifically Alexander lessons, and I'm familiar with some of the concepts for sure. I haven't really studied it. But, my teacher from age 10 to 18 was very into Alexander so I'm sure many of his concepts for positioning came from that. How about you?
@lhrmeonom8 жыл бұрын
I've been studying it for the past couple years with my piano teacher. I actually had the opportunity to chat with Hilary Hahn for a little bit last week, discussing Alexander technique and she mentioned how helpful your MVP video was. I've also been incorporating that into my piano for the past couple weeks and find it immensely helpful!

Interesting, what a great chance to talk with Hilary. We see her in LA every season or so, and she's certainly someone who's put a lot of thought into how she does what she does. I didn't know she had seen the "MVP" video, I'm glad you both found it helpful!
