I'd heard that if you take your shoe size and divide it by 2 and then add 3. It will sum up to your ring finger size.

That would be about right - providing you are young, have had no injury to your finger, have no bone disease (such as arthritis, or undiagnosed conditions)... I'd measure to be sure.
