The Purl Slip Stitch is an easy crochet stitch - if you like slip stitches as I do! The resulting fabric is dense with a little bit of stretch. It features that knit like texture.

Thanks so much! It really does look like knit. The first time I saw it I had to do a double take and then assumed it must be Tunisian - but it’s not :)

Thank you for this. It's helping me reach my goal of one new stitch each day. I worked up a couple repeats on 15 stitches, and I like how thick and dense it is. I think it would make an excellent collar on a poncho or cape, but I think if I used worsted weight for the body, I would keep the same hook, but work this stitch in a DK weight, so it isn't too thick or stiff.

Good idea. Some yarns work out better with different stitches depending on their weight. I commend you for wanting to learn a new crochet stitch every day! Wow that’s good!

@@mls_words_of_wisdom Thank you! It's actually really fun. Keeping it small means I don't get overwhelmed, which happens when I take on huge, complex projects.

I have done the purl slip stitch ribbing before, same except every row is done in back loop only. This is very easy, very attractive work. Nice. IMO, it rolls like tunisian because it virtually is tunisian that works each stitch individually, instead of casting on whole row and then working off whole row. I kinda like both ways. This way of working BLO and FLO in alternating rows give a lovely ridge on one side only. I could see it used in hats, socks, cowls, pillows, even sweaters with a rolled hem.

I love your tutorials. You are an excellent teacher. I stopped crocheting last year in March because I developed arthritis in my right wrist. I'm planning to try and resume soon and will definitely go to your tutorials. Thank you so much for your very clear way of teaching. I think I will start with this stitch. Do you have any suggestions for a project using this stitch?

It's an elegant looking stitch and seems as if it would be relaxing (for me) to work. I'd be concerned about the rolling, however. I'd hate to spend the time and yarn making something only for it to roll up on itself if I didn't want it to.

Hi, I have a pattern with a purl stitch and it says, with the yarn to front insert hook from back to front in loop as indicated, yo, draw through stitch and loop on hook. I can't find any videos that show going from back to front. I'm so confused...lol...Can you or anyone help?

Would a simple boarder help stop the curl at the edges?
@lydialady5275
@lydialady5275 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. She told us it curls, and it does. But you asked, and I thought, what if? So I tried. It does, but I couldn't just add a couple of single crochet each edge, because that's a taller stitch. So, I worked the same stitch across the edge, and that does work.
