I've made two pairs of these clogs. I agree with Jill, I still go back to the original videos!

I dug out the clogs that I started 2 years ago during the last clog vlog. Time to finish them. Yes!

I taught myself how to knit and crochet using the "Coats and Clark Learn How To" (Book Number 170-B) green-cover paperback book that they started printing in the 1950s. They have a flat knit slipper that is just a garter stitch rectangle that you seam on top and at the heel, and then you make a pom-pom to decorate. The book can still be found in used book stores/sources and covers knitting, crocheting, tatting, and embroidery.

I have that book that was my Momma’s and it’s what I learned to crochet from.

I taught myself knitting, crocheting and embroidery from it. Never did learn tatting. I bought it, yarn, and a pair of size 8 straight needles from Woolworth's with my allowance. I was 12.

I'm excited about this project. I just swatched a piece from stash Wool of the Andes with a size 11 needle (13 is on the way). The first round through the washer came out ok but still distinct stitches. I ran it through 2 more rounds with some towels and Wow! It is a thick piece of felted fabric. So cool! I will need that size 13 needle as my swatch is smaller than gauge but so fun!

I have a wonderful friend who knits and need any excuse to hang out with her more 😉. I’ve NEVER knitted but I’m inspired by Jill’s story! And your upcycle idea of using the worn out ones in the garden 😮

You can also put an insole into the clog once the holes start.

I have that booklet from my teen years. In fact it is in one of my project bags along with needles and stitch markers, etc.
