Thank you for this tutorial. It is a great coincidence that I’ve been thinking about making a Mitered square blanket in honor of one of the lady’s from the Needlecrafters group I belong to, who recently passed away. One day she was determined to teach me how to make the Mitered square blanket, which was her favorite pattern for the blankets she donated to the veterans. I politely watched her instructions, but I didn’t think about making one at that time. Now I regret I didn’t start one immediately because I could have asked her questions if I had made mistakes. Now I know I can star one because here is your tutorial. Thank you again!

Thank you Jana. I knitted a blanket 5 years ago for my daughter from a surplus of sock wool and have knitted many more pairs of socks since for family and friends. So I now have another sock wool stash but didn't have the pattern written down to make another blanket. Thanks to you I now have the first three squares knitted to begin my next blanket project. 😍

This was exactly what I’ve been looking for !!! When I saw your blanket earlier I wanted to start one but didn’t know how. I’m still new at knitting so I haven’t made a blanket in knit before, only crochet. Now I won’t have any scrap bits to deal with as I do socks and hats ! Thank you so much !!!

Great tutorial...a couple years ago I found that my yarn drawer was overflowing with bits of baby yarn. I had been ruminating on just how to knit a mitered block, so after much experimenting, I managed to successfully use up all those bits by laying the squares in a layout like a log cabin quilt block which made the nicest baby afgan. All the baby yarn colors made it so cheerfull. Unfortunately, I neglected to take a picture before donating it, hopefully it is as loved as much as I loved the process.

Thank you for this. I just resumed working on my mitered square blanket. I pick it up, work on it for a month, and then it goes into the UFO closet for a couple of years, by which time I've mostly forgotten the basics of getting a neat edge and raised decrease. Pretty sure I started it 12 years ago. The only thing I change is that on the back side, I purl that center stitch to get an even more distinct center line, but I watched five or six videos before I found yours, which is a perfect refresher of all of the steps, explained very clearly. Thank you!

I don't think I can do it because of my eyesight is too little of yarn but I also don't have the equipment or the tools needed to do it but I did learn an awful lot and now I know and I have made minor squares and bigger and bigger yarn and it's been years but thanks I needed a refresher course and it really did help and the way you zoom in really helps since I'm legally blind in one eye totally blind the other when you zoom in and I got the camera I can really see what you were doing and what you're talkin about and it really does help once I get something in my heart and in my mind see the Lord then I can produce it with my hands I'm just learning to where I actually make stuff looks really good but I'm getting there well semi-good is good to me because I know the work I put into doing but I've made hats and scarves and such but not as good as you artist do but I'm getting there and takes a lot of practice a lot of yarn a lot of tears and a lot ofin a lot of projects and then just meet us keep on moving on that's what I'm doing right now I'm working on a hat and I'm working on a tank top first garment say a prayer for me I need help on that one but I'm knitting the back first and that's what they recommend I don't know how the construction is really going to work I've got the I've got the I got the directions with me how to make it but it's just trying to figure out how they wrote it down and what they exactly mean because they don't always put in everything and it really helps these videos to see here in the shown if that makes sense it's a three-way learning that really helps me God bless you and thank you so much Salome shalom

Hello 👋, somehow this technic/project came up, when I had no head for knitting..now I want to make a blanket. Watched a lot of videos and searched online…🤪 Your explanation and demonstration is the winner! Thank you soo much. So the little diamonds are 31 stitches and the big one is 61 stitches. You are using single threat stocking yarn (4ply). How did your blanket turn out? Is it ready? Would you recommend single thread, or would you take it double? The blanket would be heavier, but also warmer.. Thank you so much!!! Kindest regards, Silke from Germany

So you knitted your third square in between the first two, right? So now you have 3 on your base row? If that's the case, just knit another single one, then add it to the base row by picking up stitches and knitting a diamond in between. Does that make sense?

Just pick up the twice the number of stitches along two other diamonds. In my case, I'm picking up 30 stitches along two sides of the smaller, existing diamonds, one stitches in the center and then another 30 sts on the other side for a total of 61 sts for the larger square. Does that make sense?

@dfblake7
@dfblake7 Жыл бұрын
I haven't made one of these blankets yet but I have made a Cosy Memories one with squares all the same size, so same process. For the larger square , I imagine you would just cast on half the number of stitches and then pick up from the side of your smaller right hand diamond ( 2 diamonds laying side by side as she showed), ...then pick up from the edge of the small left diamond, and then cast on the stitches for the larger square. Or maybe start with 2 of the larger diamonds, and pick up half way along the right one ( to the centre point) , and half way along the left one and make a small diamond that way. Would love to know what Jana does, but this is what I would try. Hope it makes sense to you.
