Purple Fluid Painting Tutorial with Silicone Spray and Compressed Air

I've gotten so many questions about my painting techniques over the last couple of months that I decided to do a tutorial video. I hope this helps answer those questions. If you like it, I think this will be the first of many.

I've only just found your channel, love what you do. Thanks for the inspiration. Could you please tell me what the PSI is on the compressor. I tried using one some time back and blew the paint right off the canvas. Haha

Thank you! My compressor is 100PSI, but the hand gun I use allows me to control the pressure really well. haha, I've blown the paint off the canvas on accident before as well!

I tried 2 types of air compressors and I don’t think either were the right ones, which do you use? And what are you biggest tips and tricks? Thank you for enjoying my work and following what I do! :) I use a 2 gallon husky compressor. It depends on what you are going for, but when using a compressor you want to make sure you have enough pressure to blow the paint around easily, and you don't want to over manipulate the paint or you'll lose definition between different colors. I absolutely love your work! How much water do you add to your fluid paint mixture? If you don’t mind sharing :)

I think at the end it's a little less than 1/3 of the total mixture. There's some wiggle room in either direction.

Is there any health problems related to inhaling the alcohol from the spray? I assume the mist evaporates into the room and not only the canvas

It's not good to inhale, but you can wear a respirator, spray outside, or make sure you have proper ventilation in your space. I personally didn't get too concerned about doing one or two sprays in my studio.

what kind of varnish do you use.. and how is it applied?

I use liquitex gloss medium and varnish. I use a foam brush and add 3 to 4 thin coats.

thank you... have you ever tried polycrylic by minwax? it is not supposed to yellow...

It's actually what I use on my jewelry, but I should try it on my canvases!
