5 Excuses Artists Make to Avoid Creating

Thanks to a plethora of excuses, it took me years to make a video like this for KZbin. If you've already been following my channel, you know I'm not very active on KZbin. Most of the content on my channel is art time lapse videos from years ago. If you enjoy that kind of content, I still create little snippets on my IG account. Moving forward, I want to deliver more content like this.
Since I stopped making excuses and finally got in front of the camera for this video, 5 Excuses Artists Make to Avoid Creating seemed like the perfect topic to cover for my debut. This is by no means a complete list of the excuses artists make to avoid creating, but it's a start! Let me know if you want a part 2!

Since I was a little girl I had always been creating. It wasn't until I started working at an art museum and talking with artists and being surrounded by art, that I started painting. I have some great tools and I have some really cheap tools. But I paint. It's for me and it's okay that I am using craft paint and cheap paint from the dollar stores. I buy quality supplies slowly. Thank you for this great video filled with encouragement.

Congrats on succeeding in making this video. 🥳 I have said everyone of these things to myself. Last year I started paint pouring, my facebook and instagram are posts of MY ART. I keep holding myself back. My other excuse was I am to old since I am 55 now. I so want to find my nitch. I feel I will have one so thank you for this video. I will keep pushing forward. 💜

Thank you for this! I’m such a perfectionist with my art that I eventually put it away and say really mean things to myself. You are absolutely right! It’s not always going to turn out like I think it should, but that’s ok. I’m going to paint today!❤️❤️❤️

I’m an artist but stopped for years due to marriage, kids, corporate career and every year I say to myself i want to paint again and put it off cause “I haven’t painted in year” “I don’t remember the techniques” and all the 5 excuses you just shared!!! I just bought basic supplies yesterday to start again and i sucked hahahaha but I’m determined this time to keep practicing it’s coming back to me slowly but so many new techniques now that i didn’t know of and need to learn.. Aww I'm so happy you got over the hurdles and started making art again!! Haha I know the pain of restarting and being like "omg, was I EVER good at this? Dang this is bad." It will all definitely come back and then some!

Exactly what I needed! I have the basic supplies, I see a tiny potential in myself, but got by the last 4 excuses in the video. The uncertainty haunts me.. what if it sucks .. what if no one likes it... couldn't be happier to see you on YT kelly! Big big fan. You are the most inspiring and helpful.
