Metaphorical due to the fact that Michael is supposed to become purple guy but since in this version he doesnt he is an animatronic it cant be the literal one, not to mention half the time ppl think william is purple with literally everything to do with it, except murder, and since he became scraptrap quite early into the series before Ennard was introduced, he cant be the purple guy regardless otherwise he would still have the suit on him, or half his guts and bones would be showing, if theres any skin left on him from tearing the suit off =/
