Coming this winter, “America’s Top Dog,” brings together top K9 cops and civilian dogs alongside their handlers as they compete nose-to-nose on the ultimate K9 obstacle course. The series is hosted by Curt Menefee alongside expert trainer Nick White and sideline reporting by Jamie Little, “America’s Top Dog” from MGM’s Big Fish Entertainment premieres this winter on A&E.
In each one-hour episode, four police K9 teams, including fan-favorites from the hit series “Live PD,” and one civilian team will face off for the title of “Top Dog” in three rounds of high velocity, furry competition. The skilled teams will be tested on their speed, agility, and teamwork by completing a series of expert tasks on a massive obstacle course including navigating a complex maze for scented items and apprehending and taking down a suspect in a bite suit, among a variety of other challenges. Each week’s winning team will receive $10,000 and an additional $5,000 to donate to the animal charity of their choice. In the final week of competition, top competitors will return to the finale course to battle for the title of “America’s Top Dog” and an additional $25,000 cash prize.
Series host Curt Menefee is an award-winning veteran studio and game broadcaster who currently co-hosts “Fox NFL Sunday” in addition to wrap-up show “The OT.” Alongside Menefee, expert trainer Nick White is a former US Marine and former member of the Secret Service with years of experience working with K9s as well as the owner of a dog training company with locations across the country. Menefee and White watch the action unfold on the course each week and provide in-depth explanation on the competition rounds. Jamie Little is a seasoned motor sports reporter covering the pit road for FOX NASCAR, as well as an animal rescue ambassador who served as a reporter at the 2019 Westminster Kennel Club Show. Little acts as sideline reporter on the course speaking with the teams as they make their way through the competition.

@@elijahfloyd6251 yep! he landed on 1 guy and then went after the other. he got injured with a lacerated liver from the fall, but when he went to vet for surgery it had healed itself! he’s now retired and lives happily at home with his handler ( same one in video ) :)

The first dog is meant to be trained for bomb sniffing and to take its time. Of course it's not going to do well in a course meant for seeing how fast a dog can go through it.

To be fair Mattis is also a bomb detection dog. One of the reasons why hes one of there most decorated officers including humans, he is a rare all rounder. Bomb detection, narcotics, human remains, criminal detection and apprehension and search and rescue very very impressive, most dogs would not look to good going up against him..

@@Megan_Fiorilla Wow, when you list all of the work Mattis does you have to be impressed. England has different Police dogs for sniffing drugs and bomb material, then their Belgian's track and catch. I worked with Beagles as they were training in bomb detection. Their size is ideal for clearing lots and lots of packages.

@@annsowers4591 Normally they are seperate but if they are very intelligent they can be trained in multiple feild. Mattises owner Mark talked about this in his insta the other day about a fellow K9 officer Radier and her handler that work with them and she was originally only a detection K9 but her handler worked hard to make her a tracker also, she's just not an apprehensive K9. She is a lab cross though and is so cute!! That's so cool though! I would love to work with K9s I'm in Ireland though don't even know if our garda or Air port has K9s never seen them use one before sadly 😭

OMG! Mattis is an awesome dog! Wow! I'm crying and got the chills just watching him! A purple heart...I'm speechless. I have a 7 year old German Shepherd named Loki. I am amazed every day how intelligent and wonderful he is. Yet he's still my big baby and always will be. I don't think people can understand how beautiful these dogs are.

I love watching the canines with their human partners/handlers. Mattis was especially well trained :-) Our first four legged officer is trained for bombs so he is going to take his time. But like other commenters I agree he does need some extra focus on the verbal commands.
