I remember in the mid 90's there was a national vote on a new M&M color, it was between blue, purple and pink and of course blue won by a landslide. I even voted for blue, but purple came in 2nd, so I guess it would make sense to have a purple one now.

Also, there was a global color vote back in 2002 where purple was among the choices, the other two being pink and aqua. Purple won, but it was sadly only put in specific bags as part of a contest. Unfortunatly, purple M&M's, from what I read, are still only going to be online for now, as the Purple character is going to be used for the website, in store displays, and limited-edition packaging. However, the company who makes the candy has taken note that people want purple added to the mix.

Not just that but Trans people who don’t like being pandered to like idols will see this as a sad marketing stunt thus making them against the character. Truth is society has standards and as a company of any kind you must not cross those standards, unfortunately M&Ms broken that very rule.
