Every time we used Manic Panic in our salon on clients it always had to be done a 2nd time on the super pale blonde clients only. If there was still a slight bit of color in the hair then the manic panic was seamless. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I assumed it was from the porosity differences on the patchy areas.

Angela Russo I’ve never understood when people say that. I dyed my hair with hot hot pink on Dec31, and didn’t touch my hair until the end of a February because of how well the dye took to my hair (plus I like when the pink fades)

As they say, "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Manic Panic is good but it fades faster than Arctic Fox from my experience. However if you change your hair super often that may not be a bad thing for you.

My purple is so patchy & I thought I messed up but seeing this, I think it’s definitely Manic Panic. It was the first time I had used MP & literally that same purple shade and it did the same thing. I applied the color straight onto my roots the way you did and then applied the color diluted with conditioner from the shaft to the ends. And it’s fading horribly - even patchier.

My main issue with manic panic is that the purple bleeds on EVERYTHING. That along with la riche directions purple. So much purple on clothes and pillow cases

I’ve used Manic Panic a ton and I’ve never had the patchiness issue! That was weird that it started kind of foaming up when you were blending it. Manic panic is definitely thick but I kind of love that, I usually blend it with conditioner to dilute it and make it go further

When I do fashion colors I stick with the same brand and don’t mix brands because formulas can not agree and go patchy, which looks like what happened. But overall still cute and definitely fixable! I think if you stick a neon orange straight onto that pink it would be the color you were after

I only mix brands if I feel that the dye I used wasn't thick enough or if it's not the right pigment (if the pigment was too dark and I want it to be lighter). I do always make sure to check if the brand plays nicely with other brands. Ik Arctic Fox and Overtone do have this policy so I usually mix them together

Manic Panic is the only brand of temporary non-natural color in my local stores. So I have never tried mixing it with other brands. It works well, but BEWARE the blue... it stained my hair and I had green hair for weeks. Ended up having a professional fix it and going auburn. But I was applying for a new job anyways. I also like the thick gel feel of it. It's great for drip control, especially in a white bathroom.

I love Manics hot hot pink, one of my fave pink dyes for making a pastel pink that lasts! I don't recommend Lunar Tides, there pink is definitely more a purpley pink

I’m surprised so many KZbinrs put semi perm hair color on dry hair. I’m a stylist and it’s so much easier to use these fashion colors when the hair is damp. It really helps spread the color and actually allows the color to last longer. I would highly suggest you try this one time and see how it works out.

I have found that's a common problem that happens with manic panic. Due to its thick constancy it holds its ground a bit and doesn't tend to blend well. You could go over it again and it may correct itself but and usually it just holds it place.

Yeah, I personally find it a bit tricky to blend. I usually use conditioner and dilute the color, make it lighter and lighter. Like add a bit of the purple diluted with conditioner kind of in the middle of the pink and the purple. Otherwise it looks amazing!

I honestly love how it turned out. Maybe try Porange or Electric Paradise from Arctic Fox to make it more neon. It is a bit patchy at the top but it's pretty easy to fix. Sometimes, I have to do it twice depending on the color

I think the reason it didn't blend together nicely is because since you waited until the end to apply the pink, the purple already had time to absorb into your hair. When you dye your hair your hair will absorb the color leaving like a conditioner film on top (like that white cast) so you were actually just blending conditioner, not the dye. This is especially likely on very damaged hair. When my hair was at it's worst it could absorb color in like a minute it was so porous.

i find that happens a lot with thick consistency dyes, manic panic is one of them, or if i mix dyes with a thick conditioner... some hair bits that are more porous absorb all the pigment and then other bits just get coated with that 'white' pigment-less thick cream that's left and the result colour is not so even. when it's all hair with one colour it's fine as it looks just like 'highlights' lol it will probably look much better after one or two washes ;) that violet on the roots is my fave hair colour ever, but after one wash i am always left with a periwinkle blue... oh well x)

I like the colors together. I will say in my opinion the reason for the patches, uneven, and white spots is your mixing different brands and your application. You don't have alot of hair but once you gave up applying it correctly (bc you couldn't cut a straight line with app brush to save your life🤣) grabbing at globs of hair I'm sure you missed hair as well. Some of it could've been from you trying to fix it so much with your blending technique that you was just removing the color all together in spots. 😬 but cool color combo. ✌🏼

You need to get your hands on some pulp riot hair dye! They have a neon collection. I use the lava and the candy shades to make a neon peach. Its wonderful!

The problem is not manic panic that patchiness is because your blonde hair is over processed and when it is over processed it doesn't matter how much product you put on or how well you massage it in the color will fall out. If I were you I would try to rebuild and condition your hair for a bit before you color/bleach it again. Additionally the patchiness is because you are not taking your sections thin enough. Smaller sections and try to saturate the hair way more and the color should come out solid. Have a good one!

The patchiness🤦‍♀️ comes from not doing thin enough sections most of the time. She did a lot of sections but the thinner and more saturated the better. And mixing different brands sometimes chemically mismatches it.

It depends what colour you want to go. I would advise pastel colours if you want it to completely come out. Greens/blues and purples tend to stain hair. I would stick to yellow/peach/pastel pink

This might get me some hate but I honestly hate manic panic hair dye. I did a blue ombré and my hair was also extremely patchy. I’m not a professional so I didn’t think to much off it. Tried it again however this was a red to orange ombré and still patchy. The color also didn’t stay on my hair long either. I honestly find Arctic fox to be the better of the vegan hair dyes. They are also easier to mix as well. Personal opinion

That purple! Maybe next time mix a bit of pink into the orange? The pink may have overpowered the orange. Love the white blonde! I’ve wanted to try that for ages but my scalp but can’t handle bleach. Always love the looks... when I blend, I pinch the hair between my fingers and rub the colors together, really focusing on pushing the color into the hair and making sure it’s saturated. I have go to tiny section by tiny section bc my hair is so thick, even as a pixie... or I’ll have crazy missed sections. Ends suck up color like CRAZY. My ends never let go of temp color, they are currently black. Eek! You’re hair is going to look great after a couple washes. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you!!! It’s always great!

Maybe manic panic doesn't mix very well with lime crime. I have used manic panic and gotten really rich deep color. It is very thick though. I like iroiro better, plus they have the shade of blue I like best. your hair does look great anyway.

Manic Panic is one of my go-to hair dyes, along with Arctic Fox and Lunar Tides. Never had a problem with it, but I also don't mix different brands because that can cause a bit of patchiness if the formulas don't play well together.
