Like it was really good. By a metric of high profile signings, no, as they shouldn’t. How long do teams last signing 5+ big position superstars? The Patriots were so good because they had the most effect/efficient QB to play, the best coach, and most definitely not high profile players(when they start). They rotated through very strategic positions, kept some of them their entire career. I’m not saying they never spent money signing people, but it wasn’t the MO. The Chiefs have continued to be good because of good drafts, good coaching and similar to the Patriots with some spice thrown in. The BIGGEST reason I love Kwesis, KOC and B Flo is because they know what to look for. You can’t see it yet but they need 5-10 years and you’re going to see just how efficient they are at choosing players to develop. How good they are at developing, and their talent in retaining good talent. I’m so impressed by how they are solving this problem. I can’t wait for the next few seasons.

Take MN out of the convo: A team traded up to get (arguably) the best defensive player in the draft that also fills a position of need by trading a first, third and a fourth. Any other team than MN would be hailed as a victory and "analyst" would be saying that team fleeced the rest of the league.

They resigned the franchises superstar, they got off of the Cousins train. They didnt pay Hunter huge money when he s getting older. They fixed the front 7 up with Greenard, Van Ginkle, and Cashman. Beought back Risner to solidify the Guard spot. And got 2 high potential first round picks. Thats not even close to 4th worst.

What position did "Seth" play??? In High School? In College? Yeah, I thought so. ESPN is currently filled with haters, and their "content" / analysis is terrible, which is why no one watches them anymore. Long gone are the Chris Berman and Tom Jackson days of actual analysis with an exceptional delivery (fun to watch). Not surprised that they haven't improved. If Turner is talnet and with over $50M cap next year, the draft will be an afterthought. It'll be free agency and extensions. If we have a rough year, we'll have an elite pick and room to trade it for more capital. I am glad we got a top Edge the year Hunter left.

I believe the vikings did great as we got rid of some older players with high contracts for alot of younger, cheaper, and in my opinion basically as good plays, and our offince can't get worse than last year with the qb issues so well be great this year

Some of you really need to quit being homers and start using your brains. Next year, we have one 1st round pick and 2 5th round picks. Even if Turner or McCarthy ends up being great, we still paid way too much for them with draft picks. Most of you are also regurgitating what Andy says or other Vikings outlets say about these players which are always going to over inflate the value of these players.

When talking about next offseason assets to improve the team, FA is just as big as the draft so dont tell one side of the story because it fits how you feel. Fun fact, a QB on a rookie deal is called the biggest competitive advantage because of how it impacts the cap, not how it impacts draft capital, which the Vikings still managed to keep all its firsts. If the best you can complain about is the loss of mid round picks for 1 year while getting a QB and a pass rusher and cap space for multiple seasons to keep your elite players, thats a good offseason.

How I feel? Did you read the article and my comments closely? I'm taking about draft stock, not the $60 million in cap space which is the reason they got the C-. Plus they would have gotten another 3rd round compensatory pick if the didnt sign Shaq Griffin. When multiple sources (besides ESPN) are saying they overpaid on draft capital, I have a tendency to believe the multiple independent resources instead of a biased source. The point is you build through the draft and supplement through free agency.

@@skyclad9306 The Shaq Griffin thing is debated. Vikings say the additional 3rd rd pick was never an option, so signing Griffin didn't make a difference. The Vikings "lost value" on the trades, but that's typically the case when trading up. The issue with basing everything strictly off the trade charts is that it doesn't factor in the player that you're trading FOR. The charts look bad when you calculate everything based on the value of the 17th pick in a vacuum. Turner was a consensus projected top 10 pick but fell due to the crazy run on offensive players. No one would have batted an eye if ATL took Turner at #8.(He was mocked by many many people to go at that position.) Replace pick #17 with pick #8 in the trade charts and the move doesn't seem as bad. It's still an over pay but trades up almost always are. The current D Line > last year's D Line. The current secondary depth > last year's depth. Current LBs > last year's LBs The O-line is the same as last year but with greater depth too. The only thing potentially worse will be the QB play, but that's highly dependent on how Kirk's age/return from injury play out.
