So, I tried this a couple of weeks ago with one of my wigs and it kinda ruined it. It was a light brown and I wanted it dark brown. It didn’t work and turned out frizzy and dry. But you inspired me to try again. I just received a wig that I got on eBay that was red, but I loved the style so I got it anyway ($12). I used Rit More in Chocolate Brown but this time I let water get to about 190, then turned the heat off. I waited a few minutes for the heat to go down a bit, then put the wet wig in the pot. I left it in there about 5-10 minutes, stirring it now and then. It is hanging to dry right now and it looks great! Beautiful brown color. Guess I’ll know for sure tomorrow when it’s completely dry and combed. I don’t know if the water works better on a lower temp, or if the difference is that this is a heat resistant wig and the other one wasn’t. So thank you for getting me to brave it again!

I watched the entire video so I know it was an excellent vid!eo! Enjoyed every momemt of it and it was just a really engaging video. It felt more like getting tips from a bff on how to die a synthetic wig. The trip to the store explaining the differences(that could actually make a huge difference in whether or not you were even able t dye the wig at all!). So, I really appreciated that. I'm a newbie at coloring wigs, but can never seem to get wigs in the colors and/or with the color blend to my liking! And, I love purple and plums. As well as, burgundy and berries(blue too). I just prefer to keep a dark root . Ombre with black as the base. I'm going to subscribe! I love your energy. Great video!

So sorry for my late reply and you've probably already figured this out - I'm not really great at lace and end up cutting most of it out, anyway. I have also used my face powder to cover up the lace and it seems to work fine. Sorry I wasn't much help with the lace.... :/

Hello, love! No worries, I'm here to answer your questions.. So a black synthetic wig is going to be near impossible to lighten or lift. If you have a human hair wig, you can bleach it until you get it as light as possible and then dye it the color you want. I'll be perfect honest, though - that is a lot of work. My suggestion is to purchase a very light synthetic wig like this one on Amazon (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JYLNBZN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and then use RIT SYNTHETIC DYE to make it red. THANK YOOOOU! :) Unfortunately, I found that you won't be able to bleach the synthetic wig. I tried once - it was messy and the end result was full of heartache and disappointment! I don't want you to experience that ;) But seriously, for a synthetic wig that you want to dye brown, it's best to find a lighter colored synthetic wig (platinum or blonde) and then purchase RIT Dye for Synthetics and then dye your wig. If, however, you want to go through the bleaching experience, then you'll have to find a human hair wig and then purchase all the necessary things to bleach it. To bleach a black wig will take longer, and possibly more bleach, to lift to a color light enough to dye brown. I would suggest the synthetic option, just for time and money saved. Bleaching is messy... Also, you may be able to find a brown wig on amazon (if you can order from Amazon) and avoid the entire dyeing process. There are also great white, platinum, and blonde synthetic wigs on Amazon.

Hello there! Yes it should work splendidly. As long as your wig is synthetic and the RIT dye is for synthetics it should darken the wig almost immediately. I always advise washing the wig first to get the oils off if its a brand new wig. Either way, you should get great results. Good luck!

Don't forget salt or dishwater, and let the water stay at temp without actually boiling. The directions on the bottle and on the rit site are pretty spot-on. Will it work when trying to make a dark brackish purple wig more of a medium purple like a violet

Dyeing a darker wig to a lighter color is a bit trickier. You may not get a vibrant violet, but you might see a color shift in the sunlight. It's just really hard to lift a black or dark brown wig without bleach. And you can't bleach synthetic hair. Try as bright a purple as you can find and you'll get a lovely tinted wig instead of a bright color. Hope that helps!

It did not! 😊🙌 I'm glad cause it was my favorite noodle pot LOL. Oh! And the dye is toxic-free and cruelty-free so I don't have to worry about that with my food - just a boiling vinegar rinse and soap and water to clean.

I ran a warm flat iron through mine, but only very quickly and on a lower temp. I can't say if you can use it to completely straighten a wig or curl it, though.

It won't really work on synthetic hair. You can try it, but you won't get the same vibrant results that you would with the synthetic RIT dye. I bet you can take it back and exchange it with a receipt and pick up the same color in synthetic... let me know if you end up trying it out.

Hi! No, I wouldn't use this on your natural hair. It really is for synthetic fibers, so I don't think it would be safe for you precious coils. Depending on the color you want, I can recommend some temporary and more permanent options, if you'd like. My favorite temporary hair wax-dye is by Mofajang. I've used the purple (of course! LOL), and then the red and blue for an Ahsoka casual look and a Harley Quinn look. You can find both of those on my Instagram @PurpleMoonCosplay if you want to see how pigmented they are. As a permanent option, I only sometimes dye my natural hair black (too many greys...) using a cruelty free dye called Madison Reed. I get it from Ulta and I've been pretty happy with it. Just to note, it is pricier than other dyes because it is permanent and salon-quality. Other dyes you can find are Manic Panic (messy but pretty good), Arctic Fox (never tried but heard good things), and sometimes Henna. Beware with henna, though - once you henna, it's hard to go back to regular dye. Something about the formula and the ingredients don't play well together even if the dye jobs are old. I hope that helps a bit, just DON'T use Rit Synthetic Dye on your own natural hair. Please!! 💕❤😘
