Love Tom, he is super talented and some of his lessons are amazing, I share his love for Lightin Hopkins but these days I only play at home by myself. After playing for more than twenty years I quit playing live once the bars only cared about how many followers I had on social media. How are we gonna have a music career if people don’t listen to the music?

Part of having a career is changing with the changes. Figuring out how to stay in the game when you get pushed out…which will happen multiple times. You may need to restart every few years as the new “thing” pushes out the old. Most people don’t want to do that. That is their breaking point.

How to make a living from a musical career is an entirely different topic…one that if we knew the answer we’d all be doing it:). Multiple streams of income is the reality no matter where you land on the popularity scale.
