Thanks for watching the video, please remember this is a complete one man production in terms of the video and audio work. My intention was to feature more in the video myself, however I forgot two very important microphone adaptors so only had one working microphone so had to shoot the video with only ever one person speaking. Thanks all the best

Just upgraded my PrimaLuna EVO300 integrated amp with a better quality power cable (unfortunately another brand as I have only just come across Inakustik) and the difference was amazing. Mind blown! More clarity, definition & resolution. More spaciousness. More musical details. Thought this may have been snake oil but am now completely sold on improving your power source for significant improvements in music quality. Timely and excellent video on an important and often overlooked subject in our HiFi systems. Will now be looking more closely at the Inakustik solutions however they are not inexpensive but can see from your video the quality and engineering that goes into each product. Good German engineering just like my Porsche 928 :-) Thanks

I've been contemplating buying an active grounding device made by Telos. Seeing all those 11 volts coming off one of the ground RCA out terminal of a CD player (8 mins 35 secs into the video), that was enough for me to "pull the trigger" on getting the Telos GNR. The unit is second-hand to suit my budget (AUD$12K for a brand new GNR) and the dealer is so confident of Telos build quality that I am getting a three year warranty instead of the standard 3 months warranty on second-hand gear.

@PursuitPerfectSystem Жыл бұрын
Sorry yes the DC offset gets fixed - that puts the mains in symmetry and not offset but that wasn't what the first test was showing, it was showing AC couples to DC through the primary and secondary parts of the transformer and you cant fix that, but instead they fix the noise upstream so noise doesn't go through the component through the coupling. I am trying my best to explain it :)

My approach to Hifi is more emotional. But I can confirm that In-Akustik produces excellent cables. I use speaker cables from this brand and can highly recommend it. After having owned cables from Kondo, Cardas and Tellurium, my judgement is, that Inakustik are the best. I don‘t give much on their scientific marketing strategy (so called air technology). But I have to admit: This stuff is really good, very neutral, transparent, with high resolution, but never „dry“. Slightly focussed on the darker side of the spectrum, but with expressive trebles as well. Important for me, as I listen to classical music a lot.

The measurement needs to be what happens to the speaker, because the whole system is connected together not just one individual component. That is what the intro was for explaining that important thing and some of the theory. Plug it in and see if the speaker sounds different or the same easy :)

One of the tests that wasn’t performed was putting the two components (CD & Receiver) onto the inakustic device and then show the measurements. A before and after comparison. Why wasn’t the same demo/test performed again plugged into their power box?
@PursuitPerfectSystem
@PursuitPerfectSystem Жыл бұрын
That wouldn’t have changed anything, the test was just showing there is a voltage on the signal ground because of capacitive coupling in the power supply showing the AC mains is “connected” to the analogue circuit. Nothing will change that it’s part of the design. That’s where the noise lives in the circuit. It was creating real world context for the problem they were explaining.

@@PursuitPerfectSystem Then use an oscilloscope or other device showing the interference and it’s elimination. If the potential remains the same then the interference must be reduced. Another interesting and informative video Terry but in truth I doubt if more than 1% of your viewership will have the disposable income to spend on products like this, particularly as the whole power issue in hi-fi is such a contentious one. You say you heard an improvement but didn't state it was a night and day one, so back to the law of diminishing returns. Again I say, how many "Average Joe's" out there are in a position to spend thousands on power products and cables for a marginal increase in sound quality ? Fascinating stuff, nevertheless. However, to be fair to yourself, you do cover kit from the affordable to the high end, so for most of us it's either, "Yes, I could go for that", or just merely dream.😊

Thanks Bart, I cant remember exactly what I said but pretty sure I said huge difference, there was a huge difference with the power products in and out - but I didn't want to go into full explanation mode because its not what I created the video for. It was meant for "infotainment" and then people have to discover these things for themselves through their own testing. Not taking anyones word for it, testing it themselves. That is what I believe in very strongly.
@bw8827
@bw8827 Жыл бұрын
To be fair Terry, on rerunning the video you did use the word "massive" initially, when describing the difference between the power products in and out but it kind of tailed off to "improvement" and "better". Look forward to your next informative piece.👍

It is easy to notice that both devices used in the test have a 2-prong plugs, so they are not connected to earth on the schuko end. I asked about this, being connected to the AC4500 doesnt change the situation where the AC capacitively couples to the DC of the component. But what it does do is bring the differences between the components closer together and reduces the noise on the incoming AC

I happened to notice in the video that Inacoustics uses MPS Hades plugs on their hi-end cables. Nothing wrong with that as MPS builds one of the best plugs in the world. I just wonder if they get the schuko variant on special order? I am asking because MPS sells those plugs to the general public only in IEC, American and Japanese variants only. Removing DC from the mains will help and may be noticed first be reduction/elimination of mechanical hum on the transformers. Filters may or may not be an improvement in sound. Their equipment and cables appear really well made. People I trust have raved about their power conditioner. The technical discussion was painful however. Interference on the primary. Sure. Yes capacitive coupling will pass the high frequency on most transformers. Saying the secondary is DC is wrong. Why not explain how a linear power supply actually works rather than an incorrect misleading presentation. Kind of destroyed the credibility of the entire presentation.
@PursuitPerfectSystem

They didnt say the secondary was DC, they said the signal becomes DC after the rectifier, the secondary was the secondary coil in the transformer.
