Cheers Terry - another highly enjoyable watch. I've enjoyed the concurrent visuals with your summarized review commentary - you've got a good editor - and the content suits your style of delivery. I love the succint review style - especially when you spoke about the Diablo - your enthusiasm for this comesa cross well. I can only conclude you're not only getting better at doing this, but also having a ball along the way. Keep making the videos - I'll keep watching.

Some lovely stuff here, the retro quads and the more modern Cyrus looks fantastic. Wish though there was some modern day 3020 or A400 around, super sound without the uber price tag. Maybe in 2025. Cheers Terry.

Dear Terry, Thank you for another great comparison video. Having acquired a pair of ProAc Response One SC’s, I am on the hunt for my end game amp and I wanted (if possible) a “simple” rank of the following regardless of price difference: Exposure 5010 Pre & Mono Blocks 200w@8Ω Moor Angel Pre & 6 Amp 150w@8Ω Chord Ultima Pre 3 & 6 Amp 180w@8Ω Naim NAC 332 Pre & NAP 250 Amp 100w@8Ω Chord Ultima Integrated Amp 125w@8Ω Hegel H590 Integrated Amp 300w@8Ω Gryphon Diablo 300 Integrated Amp 300w@8Ω I appreciate you might nave not personally listened to some of these systems, but as someone that has been in this industry for a long time means you would have a good grasp of their respective quality. Thank you in advance and have a great Christmas with your family!

Great review. Diablo 333, yea well it better be the best amp at that price. No surprises there.
@PursuitPerfectSystem27 күн бұрын
Its a tough one to make a decision like this, I went with the amp that stood out the most to me all year from all the other very good amps. How you do go better than very good. Another way to do it is in price categories - but the problem with that is you need really at least 4 in each category to give the category any value, Otherwise best amp in price category x is just 1 from 1 not 1 from 10. That is totally meaningless. Even worse is when you see best amp above £3k for example suggesting its better than all amps above that price, that is super misleading and wrong. You have to pick a way and then have conviction to follow it through, but the most expensive was not my "best of" for the other videos like speakers, digital etc, just the amp because the 333 was super stand out as you say we do expect that though.

Really enjoying your reviews Terry as a recent subscriber. Given the new Cyrus system I am looking to upgrade to it from my 10 year old Cyrus components (all 6 of them) system with PMC trwnty 22 speakers. Any recommendations for a great speaker match to the new Cyrus 40 system?

Diablo 300 owner here Terry, appreciate the comparison review and the honest appraisal, too bad you have to waste time justifying your pick of the 333 as the best you've had in your system. Aspirational anything should be its own justification.

Hi Michael, not everyone would have seen a Gryphon in the flesh or tried to pick one up or lived with one so its impossible to appreciate them until you do. I should have probably cut that bit out of the video, however its a good marker for who I am and what someone should expect from me if they watch any more of my videos etc.

Hi, cool upload man👌 Trouble is I only have £500 budget for an amp, a cd player and a pair of speakers. What’s your recommendations please? I’m into metal and classic rock. Cheers Anyone else have recommendations? Much appreciated 🫡
@jaycoleman806228 күн бұрын
You can't go wrong with a pair of Klipsch (powered) speakers, which takes care of 2 pieces. You could do everything for 500, I think.
@HaakonOdinsson28 күн бұрын
@@jaycoleman8062 thank you for taking the time to reply, I appreciate that. Yes, I keep hearing klipsch speakers, I will bear your choice in mind. What make/model would you go for regarding an amp and cd player please? Wish I had a few thousand £ tbh, those you showed in this upload looked beautiful and no doubt amazing sound quality. When I win the lottery, I will come back here and take up your recommendations! Notice I said “when”, I’m optimistic, lol. Best wishes 🫡

Musical fidelity A1?

It was between the A1 and new Quad setup. I really enjoyed the A1 but I preferred the form factor of the Quad setup and the flexibility that offers
@mikecuell503027 күн бұрын
I've never heard so much rubbish in my life. Class A amplification done well annihilates everything. But you cant have too many giant killers lest you upset the manufacturers who have the reviewers in their pockets.
@PursuitPerfectSystem27 күн бұрын
No it doesn't at all, I had a £50K pure class a setup here this year so I know real good class a sounds like. The MF A1 does not sound like that at all - its a very good amp I liked it a lot but the form factor is not great, its very limiting and gets crazy hot and its not a world beater like you are claiming here just because its class a. Come on man
@mikecuell503027 күн бұрын
@PursuitPerfectSystem listen to some Sugden then
@PursuitPerfectSystem27 күн бұрын
Yes I have some and would like to more for sure, but I already know after listening to the worlds best Class A Gryphon's Apex that like everything in audio, its pros and cons and nothing gets annihilated when things are tested as equals.

Isn't it valve in the UK?

Technically yes it probably is, however its an international audience and I think the word "tube" sounds more cool. However I have a bad habit of saying it as "choob" which I m trying to un-train myself in doing

Yes it was a toss up for me between the A1 and QUAD 33 and 303, but I preferred the QUAD form factor and the fact it has a pre with balanced inputs and a little more flexibility for setup etc. A lot more money though to be fair

Funny comment because that never even occurred me, now I see of course it does look like that. Not really if you look across all 3 of my best of 2024 videos. Certainly not intentional its just how this year went

Are these reviews sponsored,? Since you don't say they aren't one has to assume they are.
@PursuitPerfectSystem28 күн бұрын
This video is NOT a review video. Its a look over the years worth of review work where, I completed 36 individual reviews. I was very critical of every piece of gear in every review. So there is no critique here as that is not what this video is. Its a summary of my best of those products and why they are being praised in such a way. Hopefully you can see the difference. If it was "sponsored" which is a bullshit YT phrase I would have said so.

Unrealistic for many price ranges. What about sub 1K products and 1-1.5K amps where there is some real quality…disappointing

I can’t cover everything a 99% of channels cover the very affordable stuff I think it’s already well documented. It’s not the hifi I would generally buy so I don’t cover that as I would be the wrong person to speak about it. I would be too harsh and critical about it so it’s important to know your place and where you can add value.

What's the point of getting ripped off when you can buy a replica of a 50,000£ amplifier for 500 that performs just as well. You don't want an amplifier to be coloured you want it to be neutral possibly in the preamp yes I'll give you that but the output signal has got to be neutral with no coloration and good harmonics. You should check out classic audio phono stage the MC pro650£ or the mm pro, where you could use Roswell transformer about 250£ they use the Lindell Transformers, he's Mr fidler is a young British company give him some support! he will send you a demonstration units. Will the mod wright take as standard the 6111-wa tube your need an adaptor for it its a microphone valve very good goes under the radar, best place to get valves is Watford valves, stress tested and balanced. Also the guys from tube lab, if you're in the US, and they sell kits and built tube equipment I've heard they do a good phono stage see if you can do a demo on one of them.

I have a lot of replica designer clothes bought from turkey. They are much cheaper than the real thing but they are very clearly not the real thing when you wear them or compare to the real thing. So I get the sentiment but I don’t agree with any of it. Neutral is a fantasy and is made up as every amp is different so how can any of them be truly neutral. It’s fantasy land stiff
