Yeah it's definitely time for us to have an Australian Head of State who is loyal only to Australia and their full time job is serving Australia, and no other countries. And limit their powers too. For instance the Governor General currently has the power to veto laws and even veto referendums. Or sack a democratically elected Prime Minister. Let's put some limitations on that. It works fine for Ireland and Germany which are both Parliamentary Republics.

1986 Australia Act some think it wasn't legal but it's important that Australia doesn't have to ask permission (like Scotland) all the time.

I appreciate and agree with the argument that the royal family should not be our Head of State on principle. But I think that there needs to be a discussion about how it would benefit the Australian public. Most Australians haven’t been presented with a reason to think it would benefit them other than improving optics(as discussed here) and wouldn’t approve of our government spending billions on a referendum, debate, amendments etc

Yet Albanese pledged alliance to King Charles. That woman needs to know that if we’re a Republic we no longer go to the Commonwealth Games. You don’t get to do both. No one wants to tell us how much money it will cost to change to a Republic. I like bring part of the Commonwealth it’s part of our history 👑👑👑

Singapore,Malaysia and South Africa are democratic nations and are still in the commonwealth games. Being in the commonwealth doesn’t necessarily mean you need to have charizo as your head of state.
