I am right on the fence about the issue of head of state. I'm torn between what is and what could be. having said that, I'm not a 'monarchist' in any way, but I adored Queen Elizabeth for many reasons. I have no idea what we, as a country, should do in this regard. BUT, I welcome this suggestion and any others. It is time we talked about this and re-evaluate Australia's position as a nation. With open, considerate, honest and respectful discussion, we should be able to find our way. Having the Queen as such a constant, respectable and solid entity throughout my life thus far, I can't help but feel a sense of loss. But that loss is more of her character, and less so her status.

Republic is such a old word to describe a free Australia. There must be a more modern word to call it. Republic is old it’s stuffy and the rules of republic make it to easy for uk to pigeon hold Australia. Australia is an independent country already it’s just republic is just not good enough to discribe what could be

It’s be good if our country could design a flag that represents our colonial past, indigenous past and every growing multicultural history, instead of having 3 flags for everyone in the nation. How silly, that we don’t have a flag that we can all fly together, I mean doesn’t anyone think about how insulting it must be to see the Union Jack on the Australian flag if your an Aborignal-Australian, or had keeping it there become telling of the intent of white-Australia. I mean it’s not like changing the flag changes what it represents, but it would mean everyone can fly it together and that would indeed unify All Australians. As for a republic, just hurry up and get it done, it’s not like the UK or US wouldn’t hVe our back anyway If we got into a fight. But it would mean can shape a vastly more unique and cultural inclusive identity. Only time will tel with these things tho I suppose, but our country does have some major issues. Don’t even get me started about how rude it is to celebrate the national day on Ianuary 26th. How disrespectful and exclusive of Indigenous-Australians is that, no wonder the country is divided right down the middle.

It seems to me that every time somebody of Aboriginal decent joins the conversation (as in the brief interview), they bring up the issue of “… sorry…”! I distinctly remember sincere apologies being voiced by leaders in our government, but this seems to have been forgotten. Dreadful things have been brought down upon the Aborigines, historically. Colossal handouts have been given to them, as a form of overcompensation for past wrong doings, but nothing is every enough! When will they change the narrative and appreciate what they have (bearing in mind that no other Australian receives the benefits they have), and join the 21st Century. Their general attitude of victim mentality and “Give me, give me”, is what causes conflict.

They never asked for hand outs, we just started handing it out like a ticktok influencer like see I gave this person $50 that also makes me a good person. They want their land to be their land, still to this day we don't ask them about anything...maybe if we listened we wouldn't have built in flood lands, we would have been better burning off We dig up and sell there fossils.
