I'm a Chinese and I marvel at your demonstration of push hands. Both of you selflessly demonstrated the prower of push hands, and you took turn to take the role-play of attacker and defender. You both must have practised for more than 10 years to have achieved such level of kung-fu. Congratulations! (P.S.I feel sorry that others have misinterpreted your demonstration as "dancing". They don't know what they have witnessed is a very superior form of kung-fu.)

You kidding right. The skill and the applications of these two men were almost flawless. This demo was not only practical but highly graciful.

This is a very clear demonstration by two people with good skills. I'm very impressed. I trained in Taiji competition forms for a long time and won some stuff too before I started trying to learn Tui Shou. I got thrown about like a rag-doll by everyone in the class (and I mean EVERYONE). A humbling and valuable experience but hard on the ego. Everything I was doing LOOKED right, but wasn't. Taiji without Tui Shou IS just dancing. The difference is not readily evident on casual inspection.
@Corellian17 жыл бұрын
Great demonstration, i especially liked the applications at the end. As a jiujitsu exponent, I still admire every style and taiji has a certain aesthetics you can't find anywhere else.

it is an art and it is a dance... like all the "things" in our universe... look at the earth - the moon; aren`t THEY dancing too? look at the Sun - the planets; aren`t THEY dancing too? Look at the Atom, neutron, electron, proton, aren`t THEY dancing too? From the most huge until the most small... everything is a kind of "DANCE".... "harmony"... this is what we do.

Impressive. This looks like a very practical training set for a lot of the basic and some intermediate taiji concepts. The low postures are also excellent to defend against shoot fighting or MMA/grappler/wrestling styles. Very useful stuff. Keep up the good work!

hi, yeah... the twisting is just for practicing the hip-work. I know usually it is not twisted too much for Ji, but for a punch the hips should support behind the hit, so we r twisting a little more than usual tuishou.

Hi richnwood, ur corrections r 4 which style of taijiquan?(which taijiquan-style r u practicing?) my meaning is, different styles, different ways and different usage... it is much better to "feel" the moves than just "seeing" them... I`m pretty sure, ones u "feel" our tuishou u will know better...
@cfG2117 жыл бұрын
Not bad. Hips are better than most and you actually have a straight back unlike most people. Are these just routines that are shown or actual push hands? Is this chen style?
@dekal114 жыл бұрын
The rocking on the heel. Does that mess with your root? People have said not to use this method. I notice a lot of Wu Stylists practice it. I find that I can play with my center and root a bit easier. However, in Chen style, we remain rooted in pus hands. Can you explain the reason for this? Aside from that question regarding this video, I Think both of you have tremendous skill.

Looks just like Iai Kido and Ju Jutsu. Only difference is the concentration in the chi flow from the initial attack. Ai Kido and Ju Jutsu concentrate on directing the attack into your own counter, after the attack. However, this might seem weird, until I say that my styles came from Okinawa.

As far as I'm aware push hands main design is to develop in performing it individual a sort of instinct that alows to interpret opponents intentions (not the general Idea "he's going to hurt me" but what will he do) and thus alowing to counter it with apropriate tai chi technique.

Hi, for ur point 3) go 2 my favorites and watch "wang xian push hands" i think u know WANG XIAN, one of highest level Taijiquan Masters during our time, worldwide famous.. watch carefully his toes! 2) one MUST know all.. big/small/middle wide motions of circles at tuishou... tuishou is NOT for defence or some... it is JUST practice "feeling" and body motion/connected motion... during "big" motions one can practice the "hippower" better...
@youlihan17 жыл бұрын
in tuishou it absolutely doesnt matter who is in a better "angle" or position, it is JUST practicing some skills. The positions can be this or that way... thats the why there r so manny styles. ohh yeah... temple taiji? never heared of... what temple? which temple? :) man there r so manny temples, u know what i mean?

Greetings. What style of Taiji is this? The way you apply the ''Single whip'' at the end of the video looks quite different from what I had been taught though. I was taught to pull the opponent's arm across my chest instead.

well those r the basics my friend... :) AND ones again and 4the last time; since 6-7 years of practicing like that, my knees didnt hurt even a little... just do the right QiGong and bring the Energy in2 ur knees and everything is fine.
@munchichi815 жыл бұрын
Great Push Hand demo! Watching an opponent is irrelevant in advance training. Push Hands helps develop reaction skills and your eyes are actually inferior to reaction time compared to sensing your opponent through connecting with him. This is called "listening energy" that you must develop from Push Hand. Rooting is not applicable in all situations especially moving Push Hands.

Very nice demonstration. I enjoyed this as usual but interests me the most is in the single push hands where each took turns being the aggressor, is that usually done or was that for demonstration purposes? The direct push was a little forced and I wanted to know is that done to simulate the aggressive tension of the opponent to get you used to deflecting smoothly or was that just to demonstrate to non-practitioners?

as for the movie shown here... whoaaa ... it's one of best performance I've seen. Obviously it is more of a DISPLAY but done both gracefuly and skillfuly. Btw 1:33 - 2:18 ... omg that's some amazing leg strength (not only because they/you were able to do it, but also without any visible strain on the rest of the body)
@youlihan15 жыл бұрын
@bookguy12000 ... thanks :) i don`t know where i look during a real fight, maybe i look to the "happening" not to opponent, or his center... just to the "happening" until now it worked out well... but on the other side, u r right... looking "away" from the opponent will not work:)
@ffferol15 жыл бұрын
It constantly amazes me how much egoistic posturing I see in martial arts comments sections. I have never heard a master of internal martial arts trash another practitioner. A small amount of research and the respect which is basic to ALL internal martial arts would quickly show these two men have been at it with great dedication for years. I note that many martial artists who lose fights, do so because they underestimate the opposition. Ego does not make masters.

I enjoyed it. Thanks for showing this video of Push Hands. Watching an opponent is irrelevant in advance level of Tai Chi or any Chinese martial arts. Your "listening" reaction skill is faster then the eye's ability to follow movements so watching your opponent is actually slower in responding to an opponent. Rooting is not applicable in all situation especially moving Push Hands.

Sinkandrelax, your comment does a disservice to G.M. Huang, & to these demonstrators. There are many aspects to tuishou training. Huang Laoshi's demos try to show what cannot be shown, & are difficult to understand. As good as Huang was, & as much as I respect the Zheng Manqing lineage, this is a much more practical demonstration than his are. I'm sure G.M. Huang would not have insulted these folks. In fact, I suspect he would have applauded their excellent (and very classy) demonstration.

They're pretty good... They got pretty low too. It'd be hard to knock them off their center in that low of a stance. Still, I wish they pushed earlier to show the reason this martial arts is effective. The way they did it though wasn't too clear for people who don't understand.
