Mike rises to share the changes people with disabilities have told him they want to see made to the government's draft regulations to the Canada Disability Benefit.
They include removing barriers to the benefit by automatically enrolling recipients of provincial, territorial, and federal programs (like ODSP and CPP-D), and removing subsequent applications once a person has met eligibility, increasing the maximum benefit amount and benefit threshold amount to truly lift people with disabilities above the poverty line, supporting the independence of people with disabilities by assessing an applicant based on their individual means, and fast-tracking the benefit.

This is so typical of our government, promise and promise some more, then back away from their commitment. This needs to be fixed ASAP, especially when you turn 65 your automatically switched over to regular CPP. Disabilities don't disappear at a certain age. This shows the government's dominance of power over the weak .Keep fighting. Thank you Mike your the voice😊

Thank you So much Mike for literally trying to save our lives, thank you for having a human heart and caring about people. I can"t afford to live anymore. The message that the disabled People are getting from the Liberals is that they would rather see us die, they know the dire consequences that we're in but they just don"t care yet they subsidize the Fossil Fuel Industry that has record high profits, that"s so messed up on a human being level. When I was able to work I was contributing to taxes and EI, even on a small disability I still pay taxes. If I was able to have access to my Provincial AISH as well as receive my CPP Disability with my former employers benefits I would be okay but my Province doesn't"t allow it, it"s one or the other so I"m hooped. In Nordic Countries they tell you how much it costs to live there monthly for example it costs $5000 a month to live in Switzerland, and $4000 a month to live in Norway , the cost of living in Canada is no different it costs $5000 a month to live in Vancouver or Toronto and it costs $4000 month to live in other Provinces yet people on a disablility who cannot work are living on $1300 a month to $2000 a month. We need a Government who recognizes the actual costs of living, is honest about it and does something meaningful about it to lower the costs of living, so people can actually afford to live. This Corporate greed cash grab at the expense of peoples lives has got to stop, people need to find their humanity again. I am grateful for you Mike and your Humanity, thank you

GIVE US THE SAME AMOUNT THAT PEOPLE WERE GIVEN DURING COVID 2000 IS WHAT THE GOVERNMENT SAID WAS THE MINIMUM TO BE ABLE TO LIVE BUT GIVE PWD 200 AT THE MAX 😡😡😡😡😡

The Feds should be matching the provinces, at least. A 50/50 split would then make the combined total around the $2000/m mark depending on your province, and actually lift folks out of poverty.

no it can't...not from what I am reading. You can get the form...but your doctor needs to fill out 16 pages of it from what I gather. That's those of us with doctors.....I personally haven't had a family doctor in over 4 years and am on a waiting list for one so people like me are sht outta luck. and yes about 2000 a month is what people need to live on minimal. But the liberals have billions to give to other countries but not for our own disabled Canadians. Price of groceries is insane...I had to put my only friend down my dog 3 weeks ago because I could not afford the vet bills. Not like I can have human friends as being disabled everyone looks at you as if you are worthless. Now...I'm completely alone and in poverty and living in pain...enter the liberal politician to tell me about the MAID program.

oh and by the way....the NDP approved the liberals budget so they approve of what the liberals have done to the disabled community.
