I had the honor of riding with hundreds of incredibly strong cyclists in Bogota this winter. We tackled Guadalupe, Cuchilla, Yerbabuena, and Patios on our track bikes. It was one of the hardest things I've ever quit ;) it definitely didn't help that I got very sick. The views were amazing though! Huge thanks to Camilo for capturing it. Thanks to Aventon and Red Bull for making this video possible. And congrats to everyone who finished!!

One of the hardest races I have ever done. I stopped shy of the last climb, Patios, 12 hours and 90 miles into it, exhausted, with altitude sickness and shivering from the cold. Great experience, and definitely one of my best failures. PS: If you live at sea level, on an island, you´re going to have a hard time climbing 12,000ft on a fixed gear bike.

I saw someone had the same bike as mine. Aventon Matarow Low. This is motivation for me to ride more and more. This is the level of riding I want to be in/compete in. I might be 25 years old and only been riding track bikes for 3 years but I know what I have what it takes to push myself and get there and ride my heart out... and have fun doing it! You're awesome Kym!

So if you "brake" on a fixed gear bike is it literally just either on or off? Or is there a way to apply varying degrees of "braking" with your feet?
@glennoc8585
@glennoc8585 6 жыл бұрын
The altitude is a killer if you aren't acclimatized or your body just doesn't adapt to low oxygen altitudes. I'd only do an event like that if i could use a flip flop hub so i could single freewheel and run at least a front brake.

How are fixies bad for your knees? Can someone explain this?
@M3diaConsumer
@M3diaConsumer 7 жыл бұрын
Mikolaj Biernacki They can be bad for your knees because slower speed on a fixie results in greater torque on the knee joint. You can see in this video how low the average rpm is (except on the downhill)

what is the top speed of a fixie bike?
@M3diaConsumer
@M3diaConsumer 7 жыл бұрын
Ahldrin Alarcon You mean on flat ground? Because that would depend on the gear ratio of the bike. Downhill I think you can pretty much go as fast as you want if you put your feet up on the frame. Higher speed would just result in higher rpm from the pedal

Yes you are right but Lets not ignore the fact that flats only have one ride position. lets not ignore the fact that you didn't choose flat bars lets not ignore the fact that bull horns were a gift from the hill gods. lets not ignore the fact that comfort has to be consider in a race that is longer than a episode of the walking dead.
