Ok, but as a romance language speaker I can understand other romance languages to an extent so let me say this: I love the Italian translation of "I'm death straight up". It's difficult to explain unless you understand it but it gives you really the feeling "it just is, with no pity".
@chazaqiel2319 Жыл бұрын
Literally, it would be "tough and pure". It's somethis we say when there's a painful reality which can't be changed. It's simple, it's rough and there's nothing you can do about it. The closest equivalent would be "plain and simple", but that expression doesn't address the hard and painful meaning of "dura e pura".

The original is sinister, confident and at many times soft-spoken. In Italian, he's confrontational, mocking and just fucking angry. While the original feels a lot more like an inescapable force of nature, the Italian version embodies the idea that Death incarnated in this form specifically for Puss, and tailor-made something which could teach this arrogant little legend what it means to be afraid. This is perfectly encapsulated in the differences between the way they say "pick it up". In English, it's almost obvious. You're Puss in Boots, come on, pick it up, why don't you? Aren't you supposed to be a fearless hero? In Italian, it's borderline furious. Pick it up, you prick. I'm not done with you. I'm going to defeat you, beat some humility into you, and once you're broken, kill you.
