+youngpupful I was only born in 86', so I can only vaguely recall the world cups of the early 90s, but I remember them fondly. I think that those years were special because there was an optimism present that seems to no longer be. The country was starting to be a place where a young person could find work and not be faced with the prospect of emigration or unemployment. Also, the greed and banality of the celtic tiger years had yet to bite. It was perfect brew of different things that made the 90s the best decade of all :)

Nobody had anything, there was very little money around, but it didn't matter! We had lots of good, innocent fun. I feel sorry for the kids of today growing up with their smartphones and "labels" - I'd have hated to grow up in times that were tainted by materialism. I remember running round in 99p runners from Penneys and thinking I was the business!
