My favorite life hack: store things where you use them. It sounds so obvious, but when you do it purposefully you realize how much we can store things in odd places. You might find yourself putting things in unconventional places, but it makes a wild difference

This is really useful for avoiding things you want to do less too. Stick that packet of cookies on the top shelf. Un-bookmark that shopping site and stick your computer in the back room of your house. I have avoided so many things that my impulses forgot I wanted to cut back on purely because I just couldn’t be arsed.

My husband wanted to put my thing of cooking utensils(like tongs, spatulas, mixing spoons, ladles etc.) on the other counter on the other side of the stove. I’m like, wtf..why?! Makes no sense to put it on the other side! They should be next to/near the stove since that’s the only time I use them, is when I’m using the stove/oven lol

smth that has helped me with my depression is to use barriers to your advantage. If you struggle to get up in the morning, remove as many barriers as you can; put your clothes out the night before, set up all your toiletries so all you need to do is grab them. This works in reverse too, adding barriers to things you want to limit or reduce. If you check your phone a lot, put it on airplane mode, do not disturb, or shut it off. Put it across the room so it’s physically far away. This reframing of how to use barriers really changed my life

A life hack that helped me a lot is using D&D dice to help decide things. Overwhelmed with what to clean first? Write them all down and number them, then roll a dice! Hungry and can't figure out what to eat? Write it down and number it, and roll! Sometimes brains get stressed when there's too many choices, so usually this helps

One life hack that helps me when I lack motivation to do something, or have a hard time starting: Set a timer for 10 minutes and do the thing. If the thing is done within those 10 minutes? Awesome! If not then you may feel the need to finish it anyway. Helps a lot when the anxiety wall hits.

I have ADHD and live alone, and clutter and mess really give me anxiety, so when I feel overwhelmed I make myself "do ten things" to a room, and once I get started I can usually finish. Also when I get home I have a "touch it once" rule where I don't let go of anything until it is placed where it goes. No taking off shoes and leaving them, they go straight to the shoe rack, laundry goes right in the bins, etc 😊

Life hack!: I foster kittens and anything you might not want them to get into when they're older, let them have a version of those things to explore at the age of like 2 or 3 weeks and grow them up around these items and make sure you don't care about the ones you allow around them when they're little. I wish I knew that when my cats were that age because I can not have any visible wires anywhere in the house. They are 3 and still chew on wires because I did not desensitize them when they were babies. So with my most recent foster kittens, I had a wire that didn't work anymore and from time to time they played with it but eventually they got bored of it and now as adult cats, you couldn't interest them in a wire if you tried. Of course make sure it's not plugged in and I know it sounds silly but the little things matter

Life Hack: STAYING OUT OF DEBT!!! This has been such a huge one for our little family. When we finally set down and did the math we were losing a whole bunch of money to interest every month. Car payments, credit cards, store cards, bank loans, everything added up!! Yes, we have to be patient to get things now, but we actually have more money every month because we aren't paying the extra (interest) for getting it right now! We have savings for emergencies and I can't describe the relief all of this has given me. Sure, our cars aren't as nice and, our clothes aren't as fancy, and our house is smaller, but this has been such a freeing experience. I don't worry about how we're going to pay things off, I have learned what's really important because I have to be patient for it, and it's helped us just be happier! I will quit my raving, but I hope other's find this peace.

My favorite life hack: productive procrastination. When you're not feeling like working on one thing (like writing a book😅), crochet to procrastinate. If crochet gets boring, procrastinate by drawing. Not drawing? Then clean. Not cleaning? then take a walk! Too tired for a walk? Read a book! You're literally always procrastinating, but also always getting something productive done!

I don't have a life hack so much as advice I wish I would have had as a new mom. It really would have changed my perspective to know that my child's sleep (or lack thereof) is not a reflection on my parenting ability. I have one highly sensitive child who, at 8 years old, is still very anxious and introverted. And that's OK! No amount of sleep training would have changed that he needed me at night until he was 6. I love that you have the same philosophy on crochet as I did when I started learning. One year after learning my first chain stitch I crocheted 150 roses, complete with pipe cleaner stem and paper leaf, as wedding favors. I also spent 10 very interrupted years completing a pixel blanket of the Superman logo that fits at least a queen size bed. Go big or go home!

Something that changed the way I do things is those wet wipes to clean greasy/oily stuff. Cleaning and organising hacks Not sure if this is common practice or not, but when it comes to folding and storing bed clothes/sheets/pillowcase etc. I fold all the larger items of the set to be about the size of a pillow and store them in their corresponding pillowcase. That way I'm not struggling to find matching items. They're all in one neat little package. Also, instead of buying loads of different cleaners and having under the sink being a mess, get yourself some reusable spray bottles (I have brown/amber glass bottles with trigger spray tops (same the design that comes on spary bottles of cleaners)) and I make up my own cleaners. I have one that is water, vinegar and essential oil for glass and mirrors. I have one that is water, some liquid dish soap and an essential oil. This is for most cleaning as the dish soap breaks down greasy stuff (think of those random splatters, fingerprint marks on tables, food spills etc). And lastly, basically the all purpose cleaner but with vinegar added, that's for harder stuff like soap scum and general bathroom yuckyness. To use them, spray them onto their respective surfaces/jobs and leave them for a few moments, upto a few minutes. That way the dish soap and vinegar has time to break down the yucky stuff and then wipe it away. It's so much cheaper than buying all these bottles of cleaners and is way more environmentally friendly than using caustic chemicals which eventually end up in the water and single use plastic bottles. Also, from my experience, the eco-laundry egg is quite good at removing everyday general stains and stuff from clothes. Again, it's so cheap compared to liquid detergent. I still do have liquid detergent too, but I keep that for tougher stains Also (I guess everyone knows this since covid) alcohol gel is fantastic at removing ink from your hands. Be that from a burst pen or from writing quick notes on the back of your hand. If you want it gone, use some alcohol gel

I have emergency crochet by my bed and in my car to help my hands fidgeting and calming my mind. I learned it while I was in the Marine Corps to help me with my Anxiety and it works. Life Hack-ish: set up a day for charging all the rechargeable things in your home. My day is the 15th. I recharge all the batteries, lights, power sources. Then when I go reach for a tool or flashlight, it's not dead. Most Lithium Ion batteries need to be recharged every six months, if you follow this advice, you won't have to worry about "did i charge that this 6th month period?" and you won't have to worry if it's charged when you need it.

For my AuDHD brain, I fine having things prepped ahead helps. If I know I have the executive function points to do it ahead of time, I get things ready for when I don't have those points. An example is if I know I'll be out all day running errands or for work. I know I'll be overstimulated and tired so taking the extra steps for things like a shower or food is unlikely. So on a day before that day of errands or work, I will make sure to put a fresh towel, rag, and PJs out in the bathroom so there's no added steps to get clean, making it a much easier task. I'll have food prepped ahead of time whether a meal prep situation, buying frozen meals if I didn't have the energy for food prep, and I make a "snackle box," a charcuterie board in a food-safe plastic tackle box that I keep in the fridge as something of a "depression tray" so that I have food to eat that takes no effort. I put fruit, veggies, crackers, cheese, nuts, and little sweet snacks in it which take minimal effort to prep so even if I'm struggling that entire week, it's as small an effort as possible to ensure that on my worst days I'm still getting a nutritionally balanced diet in. I'm very grateful to myself on the difficult days.

@Amber-zc3xj
@Amber-zc3xj Жыл бұрын
@@anniemayfield4589 I have. I don't use the spoons terms because I find that it isn't a matter of spoons but rather what other utensil I have that day. I.e. I call a day I'm not able to handle social interaction and am better equipped to task a spoon day. A day I'm geared up for social interaction is a fork day. I also love the way a person described the spoon method as it applies to autistic people. Some people have a spoon. Others a ladle. But many times an autistic person may only have a fork to accomplish those same tasks and it can make it very disheartening to try to do those tasks. So I've learned to do the harder tasks on days i have the utensil for it so it's prepared for those days I just don't

Any cat litter bucket with a recloseable lid makes a great storage option, especially for Christmas decorations/ornaments. Life hack for organizing cords. Use one hand, point your pointer and pinky fingers and fold down the two fingers between the pointer and pinky. This forms like a U shape. Now use your other hand to take your cord (e.g., earbuds with cords, appliances with a cord, etc) and drape it across the pointer finger. Now, in a figure 8 motion, wrap the cord around the pinky and bring it back to the original spot on your pointer. Repeat this motion until your left with a decent length of the end of the cord (less for thinner cord bundles like earbuds and more for thicker cord bundles like the cord of a toaster). Pinch the middle of the figure 8 bundle and remove it from your pointer and pinky U shape. Using the end length of the cord, wrap it around the middle of the pinched bunch and slip the last bit through one of the loops in the figure 8 bundle. It keeps cords from getting tangled and messy. It doesn't require anything but the cord itself. To undo the bundle, pull out the end from the loop of the 8, and pull that and the other end. It should come fully undone without any hassle!:)

simple life hack that makes Every Single Day better: wash your dishes and clean your sink before you go to bed every night. I was a person who 'hated washing dishes' but eventually realized that is one of the biggest indicators of .. well .... being a functioning human. If you are over 12 years old, you need this hack. If you are looking for a life partner, you need this hack. Listen, if you EAT, you need this hack! So there it is friend. Loved your video. Rock on!

The life hack that my mom taught me when I was a child is for if you need butter softened quickly out of the fridge. Just take the stick of butter and microwave it for five seconds, flip it, then microwave it another five seconds until you’ve repeated on all sides. I kind of thought everybody already did it until I showed it to my best friend and then my husband and their brains exploded at the thought of instant softened butter. 😂🤯

I feel you on the fidgeting front. I always need to be doing multiple things, I can never just sit around. I acquired a lot of hobbies that way, including crocheting. I made a blanket as my first project so don't feel too bad about tackling too much at once lol. Keep up the awesome videos, you always add a spot of happiness to my day when I see you upload.

Life hack; If you get hair dye on wood floors, Lysol spray will take it right off. The stuff in the metal spray cans. I used the hack with dark purple dye I dropped on the floor and it worked! Edit; be sure to spray a good amount on there. Wipe the dye up first then spray and clean.

Life hack I wish I'd known sooner: Using microfiber cloths (I bought a 36-pack at Costco) and homemade all purpose cleaner to clean. The APC I make is 1tsp dish soap (I use plain blue Dawn), 22 drops of your favorite essential oil (I love lime), and 1c of warm water. Put in a spray bottle. Works beautifully and smells amazing!! 😁

I knot or crochet at night before bed to wind down too. People asked why I started doing it again and my answer is because you can't soap in bed. Lol. Love those little turtles!! I made my kiddo a cardigan, freehand using a basic shape idea from @altknots and it turned out adorable. You can totally do it

My favorite life hack I discovered that I've never seen anyone else talk about but that works every time: To soften butter, microwave with a little dish of water for 20-40 seconds in 15 second intervals (depending on the strength of your microwave) until it's your desired level of squishy. It's magical and I have no idea why it isn't well-known or standard practice

You called for me? 🍋🍋🍋 Favorite hack: you don't HAVE to stand to do lots of things. If you're a spoonie and struggling to accomplish things because you can't stand for long periods of time, then don't. Sit! Or figure out what people in wheelchairs do to vacuum or dust, etc.

Would you consider making bubble bars in the future? I liked buying from Lush but they have some ethical issues going on. I also believe your creativity and art (as well as your scents) is top-tier along with Lush so I believe you would make it a great product line It would also mean a lot to me and I think others because not a lot of other companies are selling this product
